Information / Review English
Meridian: Age of Invention is a time management game developed by Mirball Games.
Gameplay / Story
Your task in this game is to let your workers collect resources, which are then used to upgrade buildings or remove obstacles. There are three different levels of difficulty that have to be mastered. However, you can choose the hardest one immediately. You need quick reflexes and strategies to get a gold medal in the expert levels or to beat the developer records. I will not go into the story because it is a bit too clichéd. However, the gameplay is convincing across the board and works well.
Pro
+ Support of different operating systems + solid graphics and sound + various difficulties, not too easy and not too difficult + many levels that offer a good number of hours of gameplay + same game mechanics as other games in this genre + Trading cards
Contra
- gets boring quickly
Conclusion
Meridian: Age of Invention is intuitive and fun, if mindless.
Information / Review Deutsch
Meridian: Age of Invention
Time management game from 2013 A brief insight into what the game is actually about: Enjoy the feeling of discovery and rebuild a crumbling kingdom! Explore the innovative Time Management game Meridian: Age of Invention! You will have to hire workers, mine raw materials, build infrastructure, procure food, trade and build machines in order to rebuild dilapidated towns. (Taken from advertising) Yes, if it would work what it doesn't. The game has a problem, the individual levels cannot be completed. I played the first 10 levels, which took an hour. My suspicion is that the interactive introduction collides with the game. It's a shame, because the gameplay is interesting. A casual game that I cannot recommend. E o som… ah, o som me prendeu.

É devolver sopro a algo esquecido.”
The game is simple but not that interesting. Similar games have a relaxed mode for playing it without stars, while this one doesn't have that, unless you make everything perfect which is quite irrelevant from my point of view. Some maps are quite nice, some do not mix with the story but well... it's a simple game :P It's not a bad game just one that could be better and improved with a patch. Also some of the buildings are simpler in design, everything seems not that developed... Maybe a better or improved version or a sequel is in development? Try it :P
"Meridian: Age of Invention" is a pointless "12 Labours of Hercules" screen tapper/clicker game. There's no gameplay, just tapping on the screen. The game is made to look like you're making interesting decisions as you're presented with a map of a town/village/pathway that has you clicking on various things to collect things which are then consumed when you click on an obstacle, which unlocks more things to click on. This is so lame and shallow, you could write a script to randomly click the screen and given enough time, it would beat the game. There's a 1900's invention theme to the game but this is just a shallow skin on a shallower mobile app Unity template. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Meridian: Age of Invention" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. "Meridian: Age of Invention" is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Promised innovation but the game is boring and monotonous graphics are flat and controls are terrible the story is nonexistent not worth the time for anyone looking for fun avoid it.
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
A decent time management game.
