About
Vigil: Blood Bitterness plunges you into the dark and disturbing story of an ancient civilization where you must reveal the secrets of your past and exact revenge on the Evil destroying your universe. Ritualistic killings and blood lust blur the line between your own kind and the Evil you seek to annihilate. Your ultimate goal is to free yourself from this tormenting place and understand the origin and the purpose of this never ending Evil.
Vigil is a stylized gothic horror adventure game that uses black and white imagery similar to Frank Miller's Sin City™ to create a unique visual that draws you deeper into the gruesome world of your character, Dehon. Avoid deadly traps, solve puzzles to unravel your past, and even devour the faces of your slaves for sustenance towards your ultimate goal of freedom.

I couldn't use the demo fix to get the game to run, so I ended up playing this on my steam deck and it worked. However, I couldn't get the videos to play and while I think it's possible to get them running on linux I just don't care enough to dump any more time into this. The game isn't very good. If the visual or sound design appeal to you just watch it on youtube. It's very short (think under an hour if you succeed first try), and it's really not well designed. Most puzzles are solved by finding a note somewhere which tells you the solution wrapped in some exposition. The visual design is the strongest aspect of this game, and why it's been on my bucket list since I bought it in 2012, but it wasn't worth playing. Watching a video gives you more or less the complete experience without any of the frustration, so you should just do that if the aesthetic is appealing to you.
https://youtu.be/A8skXDhP92g After having to download a demo for a different game in order to make this work, I was already feeling the bitterness. Drawn in by the interesting high contrast art style, this hot mess of a buggy game fails to play it's videos and offers nothing but frustration.

This program is extremely poorly made, and does not work. It is more of a scam than a game.
unplayable
My gambling addict friend said if I post a review and it gets 150 likes and 50 Awards that he will buy me a case of beer and some vodka So im just gonna leave this here. Мой друг-игроман сказал, что если я опубликую отзыв и он наберет 150 лайков и 50 наград, он купит мне ящик пива и немного водки, так что я просто оставлю это здесь
It's a great game
Not an Intuitive game , and the cut scenes do not work at all on my win10 machine. If you want to play , what you are standing on determines the interaction with right mouse button. The squares open doors. the circle things are like seals to unlock.
Once the game is installed and you press play the game now only takes you to another steam store game which will cost you more money if you're desparate to play the game, its ♥♥♥♥ anyway so don't bother.
Vigil is an unfinished/abandoned 2D arthouse/minimalist low poly action RPG, but that's not really important. The game doesn't work, it just takes you direct to the Steam store when you try to launch it (originally the devs tried to take you to some of their other games but it looks like Valve deleted those). Not sure why Valve hasn't removed it yet, but the game is completely and utterly broken. Uncool that the developers left it up for sale, though.
