Video but written to follow, https://youtu.be/OWh4elxno5Q One of the most sincere games I've ever played. It has fast battles, slow walking, cute characters, and a sense of humor. This game does not take itself seriously at all. Sure, it's a parody but written in a way that is enjoyable to a wider audience. The combat is quick, which I like. If you play fast you'll do more damage. Beyond that it's a wild ride! There are typical RPG fights but there are also very special ones. This is what this game's all about! Weird mechanics that keep it interesting. Don't worry, there are plenty of standard RPG mechanics. But Video Game Fables is something special. Overall, Video Game Fables is wonderful, a real delight. Fans of RPGs will find enough here to feel familiar until the game rips out out of your comfort zone. Trust me, you want it to happen. It's not perfect but has charmed me.
Do you like parodies? Do you like puns? What about RPGs? Or the Paper Mario series? If you answered yes to any of those, you'll greatly enjoy this game. I'm only 80 minutes into the game, as of writing this review, and I've already had so many laughs. I'm highly looking forward to continuing Video Game Fables, and enjoying the laughter it brings me. *Review will be edited as I complete more of the game.*
It was a nice, refreshing experience. I was captivated by the art style and quirky plot, but of all things I especially loved the battle system, it's clear a lot of thought and care went into designing it. It's a relatively simple one, and yet with some unique twists that make it very peculiar. Short and sweet game.
There are not enough words to describe how wholesome this game was. I was very intrigued when I heard this game was done by a single developer and I must say I was very impressed. The amount of creativity done for the puzzles in this game and mechanics is beyond me. You can really tell that the developer put in a lot of work and love. The characters were so endearing and I was super invested on the journey. The boss fights were also super impressive. They were all super fun, interactive and challenging. This was not at all an 'easy' game. It forces you to think a little but not horrible enough where it becomes tedious. I also had a blast reading all the descriptions of the monsters. Music was also super nice and made the gameplay much more enjoyable!
it has a nice and refreshing take on turn based combat, and it actually makes you think. these are things that I genuinly apreciate in a game, and it has so many diffrences from basic games that it's really cool.
Turn-based RPG to a whole new level. With several different unique fights to go along with it!! Love the game, it's quirky and fun and light-hearted.
I love this game! The graphics are so fun and the dialogue is hilarious. I really enjoy the thoughtful story and the battle dynamics. It's a very unique RPG that's sure to make you laugh.
It's a fun game with paper mario and 3d dot game hero inspired elements. Humor also feels very, Disgaea 3-ish (sorry for all the references to other franchises) The level system is very different where XP is treated more as "skill points" rather than a normal level up condition. If I had one complaint, it would be that early on, I wish enemies in "random encounters" had a little less health. However, if you want a game just for a good time and you miss some of those old style rpgs that let you get straight to the point, with a fun humor that doesn't rely on shock humor like most media these days, this is a great game for you!
Took a chance and didn't expect much, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this game. The characters and writing are definitely the high point of the game, but the combat can also be deep!
