Perkele!
Vampire Survivors-like set in mythological Finnish setting of Kalevala. Excellent atmosphere and music. Seems more difficult than VS, so your mileage may wary.
Challenging without the learning curve being too steep. Very fun and love the norse mythology.
damn. love the kalevalic flavour, gameplay is bullet hell classic. i've seen better balancing & some deaths make me feel so cheated, but damn it's addictive. give it a shot
Good game if you like killing mythical creatures
It is good fun! Found out about this game through Elyvilon.
Amazing Bullet Heaven that actually has a lore.
This game just itches that action roguelite itch just right, Love the dark fantasy theme and art style and the abilities are dope.
I've been going down a bullet heaven/action rogueLITE (I really wish people would get the terminology right) rabbit hole, uninstalling almost as many games as I check out. Even though I wish there was controller support, and have not yet put a lot of time into the game, I have absolutely enjoyed my time with Versebound and will be keeping it in my rotation.
Fantastic Setting, Frustrating Progression The game’s setting is excellent—enemies, lore, and visuals all work beautifully. I found it through a YouTube video and was hooked. The first map (I haven’t unlocked the second yet) hides plenty of secrets and is great fun. The big downside is the meta-progression and learning curve. Artifacts, a dog companion, upgrades, quests, and multiple characters sound exciting, but in practice they don’t feel rewarding. Early artifacts are only temporary boosts, and quests mainly unlock harder modifiers like double bosses or no healing drops. Even with upgraded weapons you rarely feel powerful. The first-map boss is brutal: I’ve beaten it twice but struggle to repeat that because weapons and “poems” vary wildly in effectiveness. Unlocking new characters forces you to restart meta progression—upgrades and artifacts must be recollected, which is demotivating when progression already feels minimal. Since currency for meta upgrades only drops once per run (apparently after a boss), you can grind for a long time with no real progress. That said, for the price, I got several hours of fun exploring the world and its secrets, which feels fair. Great atmosphere and creative design, but the progression loop might make it less appealing for long-term play.
