I beat Vernal Edge and it was such a beautiful adventure. It was incredibly difficult but it was absolutely worth the work I put into it. The platforming was frustrating at times but ultimately enjoyable. It especially felt good once I finally succeeded at the task. The character designs were so fun and interesting. The bosses were hella fun, the worlds were utterly gorgeous, the monster design was very interesting and unique. The combat was so fun and challenging. The secret bosses were also a blast. Everything about it was very punishing. It was so easy to easily clear a room then get to the next arena and get utterly destroyed lol and since I didn't have a save available I had to go and do it over again. The final area... oh God that place was frustrating but so fulfilling once I did it. The final boss? Absolute treat. Extremely difficult, pattern recognition, visual cues and voice cues helped you know what to do. After beating it I felt such a relief, and a bit of sadness. The game was over, I got my ending and that was the end. I'm done with her journey, and the ending was so emotional despite how short it was. Bravo to the artists and writers and designers and everyone who worked on the game. I highly recommend this game if you like punishing games (though there is an easier mode than what I played lol) and extremely punishing platforming with split second decision making. As well if you like a humorous story that also gets incredibly serious and intense at times. If all of that piques your interest, please, give it a try.

This game has a unique world design and interesting level design. My only complaint is the feeling of the magic system wasnt as well implemented as the melee combat.

No entiendo como nunca antes me había enterado de la existencia de este juego, es bastante mejor de lo que esperaba. Lo que más me llamó la atención fue el apartado artistico, el juego se ve precioso durante toda su duración y me recuerda a juegos retro de PS1/2, literal lo compré solo por eso y que estaba en descuento. El diseño de mazmorras es lo que mas me ha sorprendido, es excelente en todos los aspectos, los puzles, plataformeo y progresión son muy variados e involucrados. Temáticamente creo que consiguen muy bien la vibra de estar visitando lugares abandonados tras eventos de hace años. Tiene un sistema de combate y combos bastante libre, hay como 50 ataques distintos o condicionales que puedes desbloquear y todo se cancela y encaja de manera bastante intuitiva, aunque en la práctica eso solo lo puedes hacer cuando un enemigo es vulnerable, así que contra enemigos con guardia todo se centra más en parry y ataques cargados, los combos son más para el final o jefes. El movimiento es innecesariamente profundo, los movimientos de plataformeo son muy poco restrictivos y mantienen tu inercia, así que puedes hacer mil combinaciones para ir mas rápido y saltarte partes del juego (si te gusta eso, el juego nunca te pide que hagas nada de esto). En cuanto a la historia es bastante minimalista, Vernal es un personaje consistente que se desarroya bastante bien, y hay lore acerca de los eventos de hace años, pero el resto del juego no es muy elaborado o consistente en como está escrito. Pero en general, creo que es un metroidvania excelente.
