I fell in love with the town of Rainybrook in Venture to the Vile's first few minutes. I love the quaintness of the town, its peculiar customs, and all of the odd characters clad in animal masks for inexplicable reasons (shoutout to Tilly Trout). This game is not perfect. It's got rough edges. But for me, the cozy-spooky vibes and the evocative setting were enough to propel me to the end of the game. Some additional pros/cons: Pros:

The levels have height, width, AND depth which I think this game utilizes very well. Seeing items in the background in a parallel platforming plane truly awakened the collectathon-er in me
Tilly Trout (why do I like her so much)
An abundance of solid platforming puzzles and challenges
Tilly Trout (people will be so confused if they play the game)
Excellent environmental worldbuilding
Tilly Trout (she has like 2 lines. What is wrong with me?)
Cons:

The combat I would describe as "just good enough." I don't think it ever felt amazing, but it got the job done
Quests rewards were frequently underwhelming
Very Bri'tish with its tone and artstyle—I have a knack for finding these types of games, apparently. Its differentiator as a metroidvania is shifting between foreground and background "levels" instead of merely sidescrolling. Unfortunately, the game gets to a certain point with its cludgy movements and mechanics that turning off the damage in the accessibility settings is the only enjoyable way to play it.
Recommended BUT... this is an actual hot mess of a game. Game glitches frequently, some mechanics aren't explained, map is ridiculous and combat is held together with duct tape. There's barely any music, the menus suck and the game decided to remove all my healing potency upgrades just because. That said, this has a lot of charm. And it sounds like I should give this a thumbs down but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun with this. If you're willing to put up with enormous amounts of jank then this is a fairly unique metroidvania that has some interesting ideas and passion behind it. I liked all the npcs, I liked the art direction, the sewers and the dungeons. Buy on deep sale if you're curious.
This game is one of the best i have played and isn't getting as much attention as i think it truly deserves. Its story that i first thought may be a bit simple became more developed as time went on with plenty of encounters, quest lines and mini-bosses to keep me tided over while the story was being told. there was one side quest which needed a guide in order to complete but it was still fun to do with all the lore being give for each trial past. All in all i think this game is worth buying and sharing so i hope you'll consider giving it a try.
The games atmosphere is what drew me in before anything else. Once you do start the game you will be taken into a world of such mystery and gloom that it only draws you more into the game play. This game reminds me of movies from Tim Burton and just overpowers in the sounds, graphics and world exploration. The multidimensional 2D to 3D layout is super interesting as you go into the back of the map to progress through layers of each biome. I really enjoyed the platforming and the adventure and loved the story as well. There is even romance in the game if you really pay attention to all the lore within the game and each NPC story is interesting to discover.
great metroidvania !
A wonderful metroidvania with some really clever level and character design! The developers crafted an odd but charming world that is really worth to check out. It is very much an underappreciated little gem - yes, it has some flaws but I think the overall experience is worth it. Let us support our indie games and developers, they're doing great things out here!
me gusto las mecanicas del juego
