No one pays me to test all these music games and often I can’t manage to stay in there for more than 20 minutes, I mean when a game is either instantly annoying, poorly programmed, or riddled with AI slop, why should I keep hurting myself? Beat Blast was a bright spot in a series of very bad games. Honestly, I should have written a bunch of negative reviews, but I just don’t have the time for it right now. But I don’t want to deprive my thousands of readers - and soon millions, of knowing which games they should either avoid or try out as a cautionary example. Wire up! (Could have been something, but unfortunately, it’s nothing) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1252920/Wire_up/ Whiteboyz Wit Attitude: The Pursuit of Money (The worst form of trash, cringe level 1000) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1411670/Whiteboyz_Wit_Attitude_The_Pursuit_of_Money/ Pixel Puzzles Musical (What a Meh!) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1005230/Pixel_Puzzles_Musical/ Forest of Frequencies (Not terrible, but just a very short student demo) https://store.steampowered.com/app/2244690/Forest_of_Frequencies/ Dub Dash (About as fun as hemorrhoids) https://store.steampowered.com/app/406940/Dub_Dash/ Bass Defense: First Memorythms (You should be ashamed of yourselves!) https://store.steampowered.com/app/3086940/Bass_Defense_First_Memorythms/ Geometric Feel the Beats (So boring!) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1284550/Geometric_Feel_the_Beats/ So Beat Blast by Woolly Walrus Games offers a different blend of bullet hell, roguelite and dungeon-crawling mixed into a more relaxed kind of game. The ability to compose beats that directly shape your powers is a standout feature and makes almost every run unique and engaging. Or maybe not? Over time, you learn and aim to deal as much damage as possible, so you inevitably end up choosing the same note setup every time, which unfortunately isn’t as cool or unique. While Beat Blast shows potential, I can’t say with certainty that I’d highly recommend it. It struggles with repetitiveness and has a few frustrating aspects that hold it back. Additionally, the price feels a bit high for what’s on offer, I’d suggest waiting for it to be on Sale to give it a try.
There's a lot of good ideas here, but this game suffers from far too much grind in a roguelike. It's hard to even get to level 2, and when you do, there's not enough damage to really keep up with the enemies. Even after dying 20-30 times, the progression system does not level fast enough, and most of the runs feel completely wasted. You will never get the amount of notes that these attract videos show, not without putting many many hours grinding the progression system. And since most of the core gameplay loop and items are already on display, it gets tedious to keep grinding this out over and over again.
"常年玩音游和弹幕游戏的玩家大都目光呆滞,极度自卑, 且智商逐年下降,最后完全沦为傻子。" ——我以前是完全不信这句话的, 直到自己膝盖中了一箭。 经过多年音游、弹幕游戏的熏陶, 身经百战后发现 自己鲜嫩的肉体出了bug, 打起来每个按键都不在调上, 轻松被开发者侮辱,建议快跑...
This is a game that truly had a lot of potential. But it simply doesn't deliver. The enemies AI is lack luster and you will often suffer from irrational movement patterns. You can hardly ever see all the enemies. Which is a problem because it makes running/dogging attacks a risk in it of itself. Then, you also have horrible upgrades that are usually not noticeable. Then the equipment which is locked to your first slot. and if you pick up another equipment to see what it does. You will end up deleting your old equipment, making testing out new equipment a risk. I always had a natural hatred towards games that have a dodge rolling mechanic. But in this game they somehow made it feel like sluggish. and again you can easily get hurt by dogging into a random enemy you couldn't see. I also Hate the fact that maps don't have any sense of choice. you can go in any direction. But it feels like the game gives you so many rooms until you are forced to fight the boss. Which is such a sucky feeling. Then don't even get me started on the music. I mean COME ON! You always start with the same beats. You can't ever find the right music note/ beat type. And beat types don't actually have any real influence on the game. This game is a waste of money.
Splendid
This game is very good. This game has a lot of repeatability and you can make some epic music while doing so.
A really fun game, quite a lot of customization in regards to music and sounds too.
