This is the worst Square/RPG/Simulation/Idle game I have ever had the displeasure of 100%'ing. It could be categorized as a bot detection game and it still would only be 70% accurate. To the people deciding if they are brave enough to even attempt to open this game for a laugh. Stop. You are saving yourself the 3 seconds it would take to Alt+F4 and scrub the title screen from memory before it infects your subconscious with the letter V from the name. The only pros that I could even fathom from the mental gymnastics and 720's my brain has to flip through to find are that the story (All 5 hours of it), the characters, the music and the artwork are good. They live up to the standards that Bravely Default would be proud to call it's half-cousin-sister-brother-from-another-mother. The cons are so long that it would most likely be faster for me to take a ship out across the ocean and found another America with enough years under it's belt to vote, drink and fight a civil war. This game - if I could even call it that is a mockery of all things fun. Enjoyment is what we tell ourselves to make this "Experience" as tolerable as possible since this product spares no expense wasting it. I would say this is the IRS of gameplay. Everything is does is designed to tax you. You want to level up? You have to spend time to work as the only way to get XP. You want to get gear? You have to work to get the money to buy gear. You want to do combat? You have to work to unlock new ways to work and then spend the money on food to travel. You want to have fun? You grind. And you grind a loooooot. Even for the original mobile port of this game it would take a ridiculous amount of time to slowly do silly little tasks to build up all the resources to get to the "Fun" part. When I say that the game does not start until the 26 hour mark, that is not a joke. It is the honest to god fact that this goes from a 1/10 to a 2/10. Just know this: Run. Run far far away from this game and do not look back. Play anything else, please.
TLDR; I would describe this game as a beginner entry into MIN/MAX Raising RPG Sim. I would recommend this game if you like those kind of things. This game is one where you can shut your brain off and do minimal so its great in combo if you play other games or need to step away often. It is a slower paced game, but it doesnt feel to me like its slow in a way where going through menus or combat is slow, its just the day-to-day repetitiveness makes it feel that way. As someone with ADHD, this was great for me. I wouldn't recommend $30, I got it on sale for $10 and would recommend it at that price. Why did I buy it? Funny enough, I bought this game by mistake. I like to put several games into my cart when they're on sale so I can look them up to decide if I want them or not. I read multiple reviews and instantly decided not to buy this game. Well, I bought my games and saw this was bought by accident. At first I was a little annoyed I wasted $10, but whatever. I do a $1 for 1 hour rule so it wouldn't be hard to get that value. But I'm so glad I got it. Why? Its a nice change from the normal games I play where FOMO is real, grinding for materials for hours/days/months/ and every decision can be hours of progress lost or backtracking. Everything about this game is simple. The story, the grind, the choices, characters, decisions, etc. Thats what I love about this game. Its very easy and relaxing to play when I know I'm busy or distracted. No harsh wrong decisions or save ending choices. I saw reviews saying this was a mobile game, and I can see that, would be great for that as a time passer. Recommended yes? I would recommend this if you're looking for a simple min/max rpg raising sim to pass the time while you're busy. I would say get it on sale, $10 is more then worth it IMO. I would not recommend this game if you're looking for deep game play with impactful choices or a game to hold your attention like an in-depth or story-rich RPG. Nor if slower games arent your pace. I also wouldn't recommend this game at the $30 price-point. I think this game being a Square Enix game is actually part of the harm as if I compared them to other Square Enix games, it would be extreme;ly lack luster. Overall, it was $10 well spent for me and I expect many more hours.
如果加入R18元素,这将是款大有可为的好游戏,所有的缺点都可以忽略,而且主题的设计上也非常适合与契合r18元素
Boring combat and leveling, slow start, nothing special to keep your interest.
Various Daylife is a very good contender for the worst RPG I have ever played. Its shocking that this was made by the Octopath Traveler devs, in which I consider Octopath Traveler II to be one of my favorite RPGs ever. If the mostly negative reviews didn't stop you, allow me to share my experience I had with this game. The Gameplay/Various Daylife This game really didn't feel like it had any soul in it at all. To start, when traveling to different areas is always 2D, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the execution is terrible. The characters felt really bland and boring and I had little interest in the overall problem (although I barely remember it). Otherwise you perform "Varous Daylife" tasks to improve your stats. There is no minigame or anything to do. You just upgrade your stats with the tasks given to you and you become stronger. Incredibly bad system. The Combat The combat overall is the worst part, it felt like regardless of what I did I could always defeat the enemy. There was some interesting combo potential, but it wasn't well executed at all. There were certain times at the beginning where I chose a move and it didn't deduct any SP or HP from my character, and did the powerful move anyway. I also failed to mention that when your exploring, there is no way to control your characters directions or actions except when in battle. In Octopath Traveler, you could go off the main path and find a chest that rewarded you for going a different path, or in some instances you would find a difficult new area where all the enemies would kill you easily. Not here tho! The characters just walk in a straight line and don't do anything until they've walked enough steps to find the boss. The first boss was so easy that he didn't even attack me once and it was a incredibly boring and bland battle. Overall, this game is not fun in the slightest. I was actually in pain every moment I was playing this game. I mean look at the title screen its a nearly 1:1 copy of Octopaths, but with a different background and name. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, this game is not even fun as a joke. DO NOT BUY!!!!
i'm gonna be a controversial girlie here and say i love this game. it's definitely not for everyone, and the review scores certainly tell that much. i played it through on switch and am currently replaying it years later on steam deck. it's a great game to play while watching tv or youtube, or just chilling out. sincei twas originally on apple arcade, it makes sense that it's not a full attention game. story and characters - while the story is a little sparse, it is there, and has an interesting twist that's very on par for the bravely default team. the characters aren't incredibly deep, but they do have charm in the way they're portrayed, and you can get a grasp of each characters' motivations and way of thinking. art - i adore the style and designs in this game, and the drawings for each kind of work are super charming. some of the job outfits are ugly but that's par for the course with this dev. battle and expeditions - these will be what is most hit or miss for people. it has a pretty standard turn-based combat system, with the added CHA system of chaining weaknesses. it's.. okay. if there was an auto-battle feature it would be a lot easier, but i understand why there isn't. balancing the amount of food and gear you need to bring vs the long expedition can be frustrating, but rewarding as well. job system and quests - this is my favourite part. i actually really enjoy the loop of managing your rest and mood vs your stat gains, the risk and reward is addictive and enjoyable for me. working and grinding your character levels and gears up and then unlocking a new food item or feature is satisfying as well. some classes you equip will be mostly useless except situational, but being able to cross up to three different classes per character does create a somewhat interesting potential for setup. sound - i play with music off for most games, so i have no comment on this. the 'voice acting' is a little repetitive, but serves its purpose. i do wish there was more line variety, though. price - RIDICULOUS. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR 40 DOLLARS. do not. it's worth 25 (aud) at most, and even that's pushing it. a good price point is 15-20 (aud), so if you have any interest at all wait until it's around that point. overall - it makes sense to me that a lot of people find this game boring or have a problem with the price point. for what it is, i really enjoy it enough to play it through twice. it helps if you have a certain kind of attachment to managing your meters and resources. don't go in expecting some fully fledged RPG, but consider it more of a resource manager with light RPG elements/combat.
It used to be a good deal - you're buying one SqE game with it for a little more than the game alone - and then you can buy another SqE bundle and make your money back + save some money. Now it's no longer bundled with anything - it's not worth getting it. Game itself is just some phone level shovelware - and it costs twice as much as chrono trigger - are you crazy to even consider buying it?!?!?!
i bought this game for 5 dollars and i get 40% off of like 6 other SE games would recommend
The game most people say is the worst thing Square has ever done, it's really not that bad. The game is mostly menu-based and really the only active gameplay is during battle. Outside of it, the gameplay loop consists mostly of doing various jobs to get money, train stats and learn new skills, and use the money you earn to level up yer party members, improve their gear and go on outings with 'em to improve yer mood and restore yer stamina, since you'll be less effective at jobs if you don't Once you have the recommended levels and gear, you can pick yer party and leave on a proper expedition, where you have to manage food and items long enough to make it to the goal. It's a fun semi-idle party management simulator to play while listening to a podcast or watching a stream or video, similar to Fantasy Life and the like, and really the only reason its reputation is so bad is because it used to be bundled with Octopath Traveler. That game's a completely different genre, and its fanbase is known to be pretty braindead and intolerant of games that have any amount of depth, which this game has a lot of since there's a great many mechanics to keep track of, in and out of battle Really the game's biggest weakness is its postgame. The final story mission has a recommended level of 50, which is pretty reasonable, but the postgame superboss requires level 99 and near perfect stats, which is quite a grind.. but that's on mobile/Switch. On PC for some reason, they massively overtuned that one quest to the point where it's now literally impossible to even get to the superboss; according to the achievements, nobody's done it. I tried for a long time to push through it, but even with the perfect party setup, strats and winning the lottery in the luck department, it's just not nearly enough to make it even halfway there. The superboss itself is probably a lot easier
This was cute, but it is very tedious and boring. I wonder if this is an awesome and overworked dev team being given a chance to experiment with an IP... Well, experiment time is over. Just keep making more Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default sequels please.
