This is a short sequel to Vagrant Hears. The game can be a tiny bit buggy, so save often. It ends in a cliffhanger suggesting a sequel might be coming. It would be nice to have closure, but it does not appear this will happen. I do recommend playing the entire 3 game series.
So completed this game, and overall it was the story line that got me. Same as VH1, but this time, a specific group is after scarlet due to her special gift. Brother Hood and white corp joined together to once again save Azuel. You go between 2 different parties constantly as you split up to get this and get that. Wont really ruin the ending or what it is about, but wish they had a little more interaction with this "gift" Anyhow, game is a little buggy, but you can still get through the game. some grammar issues and spelling issues, but whatever. Its a cheap indie game. for the price, I think its well worth it. Game is relatively easy with the exception of certain bosses. Some bosses will het entire party for about 1500 health while your max health is around 2300. You have some crests that can paralyze and poison and that helps tremendously. Think there was 1 boss fight I just could not paralyze or poison them (not sure if that was a bug or intentional) and it was really a PITA. Took me a few tries to win. Be sure to have plenty of mana restore potions and phoenix downs. I honestly wish you had more selection on unequiping your crests before switching on to the next group. I kind of hope they make a Vagrant hearts 3, but maybe with less bugs, and a little more time into it. Keep in mind, this is NOT SQUARE ENIX development. So I am able to look past the bugs. Overall, great story line, always curious as to what will happen next with Scarlet and the group. Fun interesting little game definitely would recommend it for a low cost, but not worth $10 $15
Vagrant Hearts 2, developed and published by Warfare Studios, continues the series’ commitment to a traditional, story-focused RPG experience, building directly on the foundation established in its predecessor. It picks up with returning characters and expands the scope of its world, aiming to deliver a more layered narrative centered on conflict, loyalty, and the consequences of past events. While the intention to deepen the story is clear, the overall experience feels more like an extension of what came before rather than a meaningful evolution. The gameplay remains firmly rooted in classic RPG Maker design. Players explore towns, travel through overworld paths, and delve into dungeons while engaging in turn-based battles that rely on familiar mechanics such as basic attacks, magic skills, and item management. The system is accessible and easy to grasp, making it suitable for players who prefer a straightforward approach to combat. However, this simplicity also limits its staying power. Battles rarely introduce new layers of strategy, and enemy encounters tend to follow predictable patterns, which can make the experience feel repetitive as it progresses. While progression systems like leveling and equipment upgrades provide a sense of advancement, they do little to significantly change how the game is played. The narrative is positioned as a central focus, attempting to build on established character relationships while introducing new challenges and developments. There are moments where the story shows potential, particularly in how it explores personal struggles within a broader conflict. However, the pacing is inconsistent, with certain sections feeling rushed while others linger without adding meaningful depth. Dialogue can come across as overly simple, which diminishes the impact of key emotional scenes. Although the game tries to present a more expansive storyline than its predecessor, it doesn’t always succeed in making that expansion feel substantial or fully realized. Exploration follows a largely linear structure, guiding players from one area to the next with limited opportunity for deviation. The environments—forests, caves, and towns—are presented in a familiar top-down style that reinforces the game’s retro identity. While this approach may appeal to fans of classic RPGs, it also highlights a lack of variety. Many areas feel visually similar, and dungeon design tends to rely on straightforward layouts without introducing unique mechanics or memorable moments. This repetition can make progression feel more routine than engaging, especially over extended play sessions. Visually, the game maintains the same RPG Maker aesthetic as the first entry, offering simple sprites and environments that prioritize function over style. While this consistency helps maintain continuity, it also means there is little in the way of visual improvement or distinct identity. The presentation feels serviceable but unremarkable, and the lack of standout artistic elements makes it difficult for the game to leave a strong impression. The audio design follows a similar pattern, with a soundtrack that supports the atmosphere without becoming particularly memorable. One of the more noticeable aspects of Vagrant Hearts 2 is its lack of refinement in certain areas. Transitions between scenes can feel abrupt, and the overall pacing doesn’t always maintain a steady rhythm. Combined with the repetitive nature of both combat and exploration, these issues contribute to a sense that the game falls short of its ambitions. It is not broken or unplayable, but it lacks the level of polish that would elevate its ideas into something more compelling. Despite these shortcomings, the game still holds some appeal for a specific audience. Players who enjoyed the first title and are invested in its characters may find value in seeing the story continue and reach a form of resolution. Its straightforward design and relatively short length make it an easy experience to complete without requiring a significant time investment. There is a sense of sincerity in its attempt to tell a meaningful story, even if the execution doesn’t fully support that goal. In the end, Vagrant Hearts 2 is a sequel that delivers more of the same rather than pushing the series forward. It offers a familiar and accessible RPG experience with a continued focus on narrative, but its repetitive gameplay, limited variety, and lack of polish prevent it from standing out. It’s best suited for players who appreciated the original and are looking for a continuation, but for others, it may feel too modest and underdeveloped to leave a lasting impression. Rating: 6/10
It's better than the first one, but there are still a few odd bugs. I also noticed a few spelling mistakes. It's not a bad game, though! 😊

According to my notes that are many years old, this was something I really failed to get into. Not surprisingly, I suppose. I recently tried to give the first one another shot, but nope.. Didn't dig it. I'm not making an attempt here, and instead will just stick to my old notes that just say "It's like the first one, mildly worse. I should have tacos."
