Vacant Kingdom

Bullet-hell battles, but the player character has momentum/inertia (you let go of the d-pad, but the character slides a little until it stops). So, a common mechanism for bullet-hell games (micrododging) doesn't exist here. The design doesn't seem to take that into account. Exploring the world was pleasant enough that I kept playing, but at a certain point the battles just became obnoxious. It's a shame, because a lot of the bullet patterns were interestingly designed instead of just being bullet spam (especially the sarcophagus battle).

Really cool game, blending together different genres pretty well! Make sure you grab the OST with the game. Bangers.

This was a fun game but I was quite surprised when I finished it. It felt like it never actually reached a climax. It felt like there were supposed to be more areas for the train to travel to. It felt like there was barely any equipment to customise your build with and make the most of the Weapon Switching function. It felt like there was meant to be... [i]more[/i] in general. I didn't realise that the demo was actually half the game. I like [u]Vacant Kingdom[/u]. I recommend it to danmaku fans. It's fun to play, full of charming characters, and full of great gags that feel like it captures the spirit of [u]Undertale[/u] without just repeating it on the surface level. I just don't think it really goes anywhere. Damn cheap, mind you, and it's great value. You're absolutely getting your money's worth.
