A short walking simulator and puzzle story. Just don't get lost in the myriad labyrinths.
Unveiling is a short game with thought provoking narrative. It's like poetry inside a game - visuals and sounds to convey a deeper meaning that really makes you speculate what the authors had in mind whilst creating it. *Spoilers ahead* My understanding of the game is that it's portraying the brittle history of the world using old statues and at the end the sensually designed experience whilst constructing the "Little Boy" nuke, it is much more intense than the rest - this made me really realise the severity of the nuke being built this time around rather than another statue as it makes the player sense the severity of this exact object being around - it might destroy the rest. The creepy maze that you have to go through it seems that it doesn't matter what path you take you will get through it - it seems like this means EVOLUTION - no matter what you do it's human to explore and you will reach the next chapter EVENTUALLY. However this is all my theory and it can definitely be wrong! Anyways I see that this game shows potential and hope to see more from this new studio in the future!
Very short experience with some interesting visuals. This game is a perfect fit for the walking simulator genre. There's everything here: a strange story that raises more questions than answers, some pretty unusual visuals, and a very short runtime. Because discussing too much about the plot might ruin the experience, I'll just say it begins with you driving down a road at night. Suddenly, strange lights appear in the sky, and your car starts acting strangely. Before you know it, you've been abducted by aliens. All you do is move forward towards the obvious point of interest. Although most places are open, there is little purpose in exploring. Even if you reach anything that appears to be interesting, all you will hear is a woman's voice guiding you through the game. Locations are both unusual and interesting. They're also massive and predominantly use black and white colors. They provide countless exits, but it makes no difference which one you choose. A few light puzzles are included. They couldn't be simpler: all you have to do to restore a statue is bring pieces to the designated location. After around 30 minutes, you can choose one ending.
About 30 minutes long of a game. Really trippy at some points. Its less than an hour if you run through it twice.
One of the more theatrical walking simulators I've played, and the length is at a good spot.
A game that runs (or walks) the length of a short film will always make me crave greater interactivity, but this was executed nicely for what it is. Visually interesting--early on, I love that POV reversal between the player and the UFO; the craft itself feeling more like an entity, rather than something piloted by an entity. Solid sound design and voice-over as well, effectively creepy atmosphere overall. It does the UFO/UAP/alien/NHI topic justice. Despite the latest push for disclosure, there aren't many games exploring it. I'm rooting for you guys to keep making games. Ideally longer ones and with a variety of gameplay gimmicks, not to compromise the focus on storytelling but enhance it.
Going to start this game having nice graphics, and there are some really nice ideas with the visuals. But, that's really about all there is to this game. Remember, this is just a walking simulator. There are a few bits that could be considered mechanics, but that's basically just pick a thing up then drop it somewhere else. Don't look for anything like puzzles or anything So, what do we get out of this game? You get a bit of a monologue from an alien. Oh, and two endings, but more about later. The story of the game is you as the player, minding yourself, as all of a sudden you are abducted by something. What after that, you have about 30 minutes of an alien that tells us how earthlings are bad and you should feel bad. Basically, anyway. Now, the endings. This game has two of them. The only way to see the ending is to get to one of the ending, restart a new game and go through all of the same monologue to see the other ending. It's not a long time, but it is annoying. But it comes into about 30 minutes of play, then another extra just to get to the other ending. If you still enjoy this sort of experience, then give it a try. Just don't expect too much time. It should give you a good idea of how the game plays and what to expect.
Um, Nope! I can't believe this "game" has ANY positive reviews, let alone several. This had to be the most boring and pointless game I've ever played, and I've played a LOT of games (not all great). In one review, I read the game described as "immersive." That's not the experience I had. The dialog was sparse, simple, and vague. No deep thoughts that I could discern. There were a few cool visuals, all black and white, but that's it. There were 2 or 3 very simple puzzles. Other than that, there is very little gameplay. Oh, there's a lot of walking around without much to see. Yup, here's lots of that in this short game. For far too much of the game, you feel like you're wandering around aimlessly and most of the time it's dark, so you're not even sure where you're going, much less WHY you had to do all that walking without seeing anything but darkness. Of course, you do end up SOMEWHERE (I guess... if you could call it that), but was it really necessary to do all that meaningless walking to get there? Although the game only lasted about 20-25 minutes, it felt slow and drawn out. I know, my stats show I spent 105 minutes, but I paused halfway through and went and had breakfast. I'm not even sure why I came back to complete this insipid "game."
