Untitled Ghost Game - Game Review (Disclaimer - This is just my opinion and may be unpopular, or disliked.) (General) 1. In summary this is a not scary, pixle art top-down Phasmophobia. (Positive) 1. The pixle art style gave the game a very cute vibe and nostalgic. 2. The game is short. 3. The runs are made to be played quickly so you can speed run it. (Negative) 1. The game is very fast and makes it hard to really enjoy. 2. After each game you have to load back into a multiplayer lobby, which is kinda annoying. 3. The game could use a bit more explaining of the tools, etc. 4. The matches could be slower so you can savour it.

This is a completely garbage 2D retro pixelcrap top down twin stick multiplayer only "ghost investigator" stealth action game where you wander around a spooky house with a ghost in it and use various tools to try get the ghost... the quality here is deplorably bad, from the overall game design right down to the terrible graphics and janky controls. So, "Untitled Ghost Game" is a dead multiplayer game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every multiplayer exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst multiplayer centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's little to no solo content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or solo content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. The "game" here is of a pretty low technical standard. The implementation is basic minimum effort stuff, more like a weekend project rather than a serious, professionally made product... and it’s bad even compared to most amateur made games. An experimental piece... and the experiment is "Can I spend $100 on Steam Direct and then call myself a game dev?" While that $100 spend on Steam Direct probably made the developers feel good about themselves, we have to ask why this kind of thing is good for gamers. It isn’t. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of player counts and popular reception, this couldn't even crack 100 players at its absolute peak. For a free game on a platform with 130 million players, that is a spectacular failure, mostly due to the reasons I've supplied here. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead. Note: Joke reviews As usual, with some of the worst games on Steam, all the comedians come out of the woodwork. The vast majority of the reviews for this game are joke reviews, mocking the game for just how bad it is. The comedians give us the usual "this game cured my cancer, saved my marriage, changed my life" story... sarcastic, but not useful if you want to know if the game is worth it. Because most of the reviews are humorous but also insincere and not reflective of the actual quality of the product, the positive review score for this game should be taken with a grain of salt.
It's basically 2D Phasmophobia with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Best game ever.
