Turn up the volume and turn off the lights if you want a full exorcism experience. This game really hits the mark. It is a speed run style game. you will need to learn what all items do and memorize maps for a successful exorcism. Each possessed will take several play throughs to complete. I Will be keeping an eye on possessed 2 now! Well done.
There's some things in this game that are unintentional that artificially balloon the difficulty, but there are other things that are so trivial that the experience isn't all that scary to me. 1. Attacks on the possessed. Turns out that I have to look at the possessed and *then* right click. I was mislead by thinking that I was doing something by the indication 'hold to stop attack' when that just wasn't doing anything. 2. Demons. Demons are trivial to deal with. Look at 'em with the holy book or crucifix (which you should be holding 90% of the time) and point and click adventure them. The nun and the dog are the only things I've identified as legit threats, everything else seems to be used only in photo evidence. 3. Item placement. Item placement is randomized which is fine, but what isn't fine is that 90% of the items spawn inside, while 10% spawn outside. Without any sort of forced tutorial I had to look in the game's menus to figure out that portals can spawn outside, which isn't the case for any other item. 4. Demons vs Possessed Every demon is point in the general direction, and the attack/possession seem to have the same visual indicator as well. I'd personally make the repelling of the demon a bit more involved (a high risk high reward sort of situation) rather than ease up on the attack/possession clear. Bring those more in line with each other since they use the same items to avoid confusion. Overall I do like the bones of this game. It’s visually distinct and pleasing, the animations are wonderful, and the gameplay loop gets progressively more tense as time goes on. There’s just some obvious flaws that I dearly hope are fixed in the second game.
