About
As an indie studio made up of two guys video game enthusiasts, we really wanted to play a horror video game with dinosaurs, so we decided to create one ourselves. Any feedback is welcome to help us improve, even for future games that are on the way!

Unknown Tapes is a horror video game that employs the found footage technique to narrate a story focused on survival in a modern setting overrun by dinosaurs. It aims for realism and draws inspiration from Dino Crisis and Outlast.
A story will unfold, with an expected playtime of 2-3 hours from start to finish
You are being hunted by dinosaurs, and you will need to hide, avoid making too much noise, and sometimes use your wits.
Buildings can be destroyed by larger dinosaurs, so you can't always count on finding protection inside.
The game is primarily set at night, featuring both outdoor and indoor environments, some of which may feel claustrophobic.
Thanks to photogrammetry and the graphical power of Unreal Engine 5, we’ve recreated detailed urban environments. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk through a town overrun by dinosaurs?

Thanks to the use of the microphone, dinosaurs can hear your voice when you talk or shout in the real world and will react accordingly to what they perceive

We used the most advanced photogrammetry software to directly bring real-world objects and environments into the game. Many of the things you see actually exist in the real world

Using various software and solutions, we successfully recreated a realistic camera movement by digitizing it and integrating it into the game
First-person narrative walking simulator set in a world full of dinosaurs

Blair Witch Project vibes with a tense atmosphere
Realistic graphics using photogrammetry

Good game nice story played well thank you dev's for custom keybinds so much easier to play. I hope you make more and continue the series I didn't think the compound would work vs all the dino's especially not that creepy Marp-1 thing that is part Human.
Very atmospheric, the frame rate and graphics are excellent, i'd love a game like this with slow zombies in and a nice 1911 m92, and a mossberg 500 pump shotgun! no one has done a good one yet that you can play "Without" NEEDING an internet connection, but yeah this is really intense! Thank you devs

I'm so glad a game like this exists. There aren't many dinosaur psychological horror games out there, and it's a concept with a lot of potential that needs to be explored further. Atmosphere was great, especially the first open areas where you're afraid anything could appear at any moment. Visuals are awesome too, with really cool dinosaur models. The story has some very interesting ideas like the MARP-1, although the character's main goal doesn't feel important at all. We just get a text in the beginning and what happened right at the end, but we don't discover anything about it while playing, so it doesn't feel relevant during the game itself. Also, the bigger dinosaurs could've been used better. The models are really cool and there are a couple of moments that feel terrifying, but they are never really a threat since they only have fixed jumpscares. Because of this, Raptors end up being too common. Finally, there are some aspects that are surprisingly unpolished. It's not a big deal, but the interface with the current goals is really crappy and out of place compared to how immersive and awesome the game looks. But again, even with all its flaws, I had a great time playing this and would totally recommend it. The world NEEDS more psychological horror with dinosaurs.
I played this a while back but forgot to leave a review. As an avid supporter of indie developers (and dinosaur games) I saw this game while browsing dinosaur games and decided to give it a try. It was my first 'horror' game. The atmosphere does a good job of keeping you on edge the whole time. Ambient noises make you check over your shoulder even when no creatures are nearby. Graphics are great, controls are easy, etc. The VHS effect is nice; the usage of the player's microphone in certain areas is a nice touch as well. It took around 3 hours to play (my YouTube playthrough had to be separated into three parts) but it felt like a lot of content, especially since you have to sort of take a slower pace to sneak around a lot. My only miniscule complaint is that, as a completionist (achievement nerd), there are two places where death feels more RNG. This makes going for the 'Perfectionist' achievement (no-death run) somewhat hit-or-miss. Nonetheless, it was a fun and cool game that I enjoyed very much, and I hope the developers craft more dinosaur games in the future - maybe with appearances by different creatures beyond just dinosaurs, such as Titanoboa or Smilodon!
The kind of horror game that is actually scary.
