Universe for Sale is a hand-drawn adventure game set in the dense clouds of Jupiter, where sapient orangutans work as dockhands and mysterious cultists strip the flesh from their bones in order to reach enlightenment.
Explore all the nooks and crannies of a ramshackle colony on Jupiter. Rickety tea houses, strange oddity shops, and overworked mechanics garages abound in the picturesque and infamous shantytown that's cropped up around the abandoned mine. Every new face, whether human, simian, skeletal or robotic, has a unique story to tell as they do their best to survive the acid rain pouring down.
The nameless master, intrigued by stories of Lila's ability to create universes, finds her on a rainy night to discuss the unique power that she has. For something so awe-inspiring, she explains it like she'd explain how to brew coffee. But it isn't just the master who wants to know more about Lila, who threatens to unravel the mystery at the heart of Universe for Sale.
So, choose a cup, find some ingredients and Lila will craft a universe down to your particular specifications. Only question is: You buying?

A meditative game that takes place on the planet Jupiter. You read about the story through the eyes of a little girl named Lila. The two main characters are a cultist named Master and a female named Lila. The cultist removed multiple parts of his body and slowly tries to connect with Lila.
Pros:
- Hand-drawn artwork is gorgeous and reminds me of comic book art. - A unique cast of NPCs to meet and interact with. - Relaxing music tracks in the game.
Con:
The main aspect I did not enjoy was creating the universes because you will most likely need a game guide to complete that part and it felt tedious. Lila adds two ingredients to a cup and changes the shape to create a universe based on what the customer wants. If the universe is not correct, the customer will continue to wait and the only guide you have are images with mix recipes. Conclusion: Overall, a decent visual novel game with memorable art. The Creating universe part could have been improved with better tips to remove the drudgery. Players will take about 5-7 hours to complete the game.
This game was such a breath of fresh air to me. The art is stunning, the story is fascinating and keeps you engaged the entire time. I loved slowly uncovering the mystery and dynamic between the two main characters; it takes awhile for the story to explicitly state anything so it’s nice to come up with your own theories of what’s happening. I don’t normally like point and click games because I feel like they are usually a lot of “oh I need to interact with everything and keep track of all my clues and make sure I’m doubling back for this, etc etc” but this game is relaxing to play while also revealing a very sad and meaningful story that leaves you feeling kind of heavy at the end (but also at peace). Game play is roughly 6 hours (unless you’re faster than me at figuring out the mechanics of the puzzles, didn’t realize for several hours that you can use the D-pad to change the shape of the universes, I was trying to drag my finger on the touch screen), but seems replayable, possibly an alternate ending depending on the choices you make?
Beautiful game. Fun story to wrap the mind around, and each and every character felt alive. I have had this game on my wishlist for quite a while now, even before it came out/ released and I'm glad I bought it. the sounds design of the city/ town and the city was especially engaging. Tho I do wish the music during the universe creation wasn't so repetitive. Overall it was a relaxing, thought provoking game with absolutely brillant art.
The artstyle, worldbuilding and overall aesthetic of this hand-drawn point and click are amazingly done. I really wish for more people to discover this game. I cannot recommend this enough.
Universe for Sale m’a sincèrement étonné.
