Another absolute gem! Same lovely cast of characters (now with paws) and gameplay that oozes that good old arcade fun. this feels like a modernized version of a classic game id be playing for a dollar at a standing arcade cabinet. I can't praise everything enough it just nails the perfect arcade vibe, lovable characters full of quips that a kid me would latch onto and have me telling my mom how i want to be Lars halloween. no doubt this would be my favorite arcade cabinet. also in this one we get more worldbuilding lore between quick fun stages
Excellent arcade-styled furry science-fiction game! :D 🐾 If you search for something that mixes animals, robotics and space plus made not by a large company, but by independent developers with true passion, you're in a right place! ;) This is the right example to make furry games that can be enjoyed by non-furries too. :) Especially, retro fans will easily recognize inspirations from Mega Man and Star Fox. GRAPHICS: Perfect vibe of arcade style from the early 3D era. Also can be enjoyed by cartoon fans. ;) MUSIC: I personally feel something I'd call 'false nostalgia'. LOL Like it resambles a sountrack from a cartoon/movie I saw a kid, but I know this is the original game sountrack. GAMEPLAY: ndeed difficult, which is essential for a arcade-styled games, but not actually frustrating or hardcore. Recommened for people who want a challange and practising skills, but not 'destroying controllers' xD CHARACTERS: For people who haven't played the first Unit Down from 2021, the playable characters are Bio-Units, synthetic creatures created by humans in a veeery distant future for space industry purposes. I just call them 'animals-robots' (if you know robo-dog Rush from Mega Man, you know why I say that). Theese four ones rebeled against their creator, Dr. Aura. Lars (the 'fox-robot') is a joker, always optimistic, but pretty unserious. Kit (the 'cat-robot') is like a kind young girl. Deon (the 'dinosaur/dragon-robot') is the serious guy, but never laughs on Lars' jokes. Captain Garisson (not sure what's his species) is the leader of them - not playable as he's more serious job. PLOT: Usually plot is not important in arcade-styled games. But here is a cool vision of future - something really different from mainstream science-fiction. OVERALL RATING: PEGI 7+ for mild violence Oops... Sorry. Not this type of rating. xD I mean 10 paws / 10 tails :>>
Very polished and charming On-Rails/Cabal shooter game. With a great, delightful cast of both the main trio and their captain to the colorful bosses at the end of each stage, all of whom have solid voice acting from solid voice actors. This game also has tons of replayability, from trying to get the gold medal scores on each of the main stages to the extra side modes, like expert mode and challenge stages that add a new twist with each one to keep everything fresh and fun. With a survival mode coming soon and seemingly more content on the way, this is a no-brainer for any fan of Star Fox, Sin and Punishment, or even Wild Guns that wants that void of their itch. Even for non-fans of those games or people who haven't played them yet, I still highly recommend this game for people who are looking for something that is fast-paced, arcade-like, and just plain fun.
A wonderful game that tests your reflexes, features fun characters, a interesting plot, and excellent voice acting + humorous dialogue among the cast and the enemies. Unit Down Charge is a game that fans of a certain space faring fox and other on-rails shooters can jump right in and are guaranteed to enjoy. The low poly graphics and character designs are charming, with the simulations making for a experience that will help hone your shooting & aiming skills the more you play. I highly recommend giving this great game a go:)
Both Unit Down and Unit Down Charge were clearly made with love and reverence for the genre and the passion absolutely shines through. The more gamepad-friendly controls of Charge compared to the original Unit Down really shines through with the lock-on assist and aim centering. The voice acting is phenomenal as well and the writing genuinely made me laugh. The whole game has a very 90's "ReBoot" style to it that shines through fantastically and creates a truly nostalgic atmosphere worth playing through. The comparisons to Star Fox may be inevitable, but Unit Down Charge truly surpasses the inspiration in a way that should make Miyamoto-san proud.
I liked the first game well enough for what it was, but this game is much more my speed. I'm a huge fan. There's a lot of enemy variety and the character swapping to try to get as high of a score as possible, because you get a bonus for killing enemies quickly, is extremely fun. Different characters are more useful for different sections and losing one really hurts, as it should! I haven't finished the game yet but I appreciate the medals and the expert mode to keep you coming back for more as well as the challenge stages0 (And the upcoming survival mode!)! There's definitely a ton hear for fans of any rail shooter like Sin and Punishment to love and I couldn't be happier to be a fan.
Even better than the First Game, I like that you get to play as the other characters with different playstyles.
i freaking like it
