UNEXTINCTION is just a wild ride of a game. The scale of everything is massive while also being fairly constrained as well. For a solo dev game it looks real good and runs quite smoothly as well. I love the premise and even if the story makes no sense to me I can feel the passion put into everything. There is definitely a set up for a second game where the dev can use what they learned making this game to make an even better game down the line. The atmosphere was definitely well done because I was on my toes the whole game as soon as I picked up the shotgun just waiting to get murked from the shadows. The first jump scare while not loud really got me which is what jump scares are all about. There are definitely problems with how the game progresses such as how vague the objectives can be. It did take me a hot minute on the boat to figure out that there was a radio to interact with, but I gotta admit that I goofed off a lot trying to jump on top of the boat. The password section in chapter 2 was still rough to figure out even after the dev updated to make it simpler, mostly because it still isnt completely obvious and if you input it in wrong you wont know where you went wrong. The sound design especially the endless looping wind effect is something I think could be really improved on with just making it quieter, loop better, and adding other noises to increase overall atmosphere. Seriously great game for a solo project despite the funkiness and I definitely recommend trying it out just as a fun short experience.
THIS IS A REALLY WEIRD GAME. It has dinosaurs sure but I would not really describe it as a dino game. They almost seem like a tacked on part of the story. You could have replaced them with modern animals and the story would not change. I am downvoting because I think most people that buy this game will not find what they were looking for. I would say this has far more in common with Tonguc Bodur's walking simulators than most dino games. Go play Oakwood instead it won't dissapoint!
[bold] Edit: Updated my review because the developer fixed all my complaints below! [/bold] /////////////// an amazing ending to a game that was so painful to play - i would only recommend this to my worst enemy. edit: gifted it to my worst enemy. he loves it. things i noticed: 1) the game kept spawning me in the ocean after you go to sleep in chapter 1. didn't happen to him 2) the game is MUCH brighter for him and i have no idea why. i spent most of my 98 minutes wandering around in the dark looking for a bucket, wood, and a rock. I couldn't even see the fireflies he sees. There's no gamma control in the game. Edit2: It looks like this may have been caused by Gsync - I turned it off and played to the dark part again. it's much brighter now but still - a lot of people play with it on so I still can't rec it. (And it really needs MORE fireflies so you're not so lost in the jungle.) Also, my performance was MUCH better with gsync off. the game was framey with it on. 3) he managed to sequence break the game by going along the edge of the lab early and getting sucked into the candle scene.
good
You will play this as if you are reading a book. 2 chapters of science fiction 2 chapters of your choice A story about an extinct dinosaur the staging of fire is rare, first time I see so much fire around me in a game, and in the middle of winter, you feel the warmth taking over you the dinosaurs seem gigantic to you your brain watching will be intrigued and surprised. nice staging, find the right spot to continue the mission. For example, for the mission: make the fire, look for the wood that is bright yellow to pick it up and continue the quest. look for seawater, look for a bucket, look for code b22 for information, because they say there are no numbers. You are not likely to find it. In short: you have a boat in chapter 1, and a forest in chapter 2, and a finale with a speech. It took me a little over an hour to complete all of this. A good story ahead.
I needed about an hour to finish the game but i liked it. It looks really nice has some nice terror Aspects while still giving you a sense of wonder due to the Soul Mechanic. Its a short expierence i can only recommend to others. I hope certain Graphics get updates and the Game gets more optimized such as the Outside of the Lab in the future. I wish this game all the best and the Developer aswell for their future Projects!
Vivid graphics, short gameplay in its current state but so much potential, tense atmosphere and terrifying scares
할인해서 780원에 쌌음.... 챕터 1은 어케 하는지 몰라서 바로 챕터 2갔고 챕터2 깨다가 무서워서 포기함 공룡은 그렇게 많이 안나오는듯...
GENERAL THOUGHTS I purchased this game for less than a dollar. Total playtime was about an hour. For a first game and first time developer, I think this is a solid game. PROS

The story is unique enough to be interesting. There were several unexpected twists.
The graphics are much nicer than I expected.
The voice acting is a great addition for a low budget game like this.
CONS

Just an fyi.... The red cross is a protected symbol. Several game developers have had to alter their med packs so that they don't use the red cross in the past. Devs, if you read this, please do us content creators a solid and change your design so we don't have to blur/edit that part. On that note, a couple of your songs are potentially problematic for a content creator as well. I am not saying you should remove or change the songs. This is just feedback.
The motion blur/head bob is a stronger than I prefer with no way to turn it off or adjust.
Adjusting the mouse sensitivity doesn't seem to do anything.
The wind on the island gets annoying pretty quickly. It is a little bit loud and there isn't enough variability.
NEUTRAL

There is no save mechanic. Given the length of the game, I don't necessarily think this is a deal breaker, but keep it in mind if you get stuck or can't designate a good 40-50ish minutes to finishing the second chapter.
The shotgun doesn't do anything except progress the game.
I feel like the game is lacking something that I can't quite put my finger on. I am not sure if it is a little more backstory on what the lab was doing exactly, more dinosaurs, or a little bit of combat.
MY RATING ⭐ 4/5 – Pretty good (especially if less than $5)
I'll be honest here, as a fan of anything with dinosaurs, this was a fun little experience. Yes it has bugs where you can get stuck sometimes, its a bit slow paced, but its definitely impressive for someone's first big game. (dismiss that if its not the developer's first, still good though)! I also haven't seen many dinosaur-related things where it's just fun, a little goofy, a little scary, and it doesn't shove the "millions of years" thing or "educational" things down everyone's throats every five seconds. VERY refreshing! --- My one big con: its great on its own, but I'm way more interested in the "storytelling" feel here rather than its "game" mechanics. Gamewise, there's not really anything else to do besides gradually paced objectives. I feel like what you have here is good, but it would be WAY better if you made this into a film or animation instead. It feels more like it should be watched than explored, like you want to tell a really good, original story, and have a very good premise, but are getting weighed down with trying to pace it according to the way gamers play. Hope this helps give some insight! Thank you for the experience! ^^
