Great game, Interesting gameplay and beautiful pixel art.
I've been waiting for Undungeon since the beginning of the year and Arena standalone was a nice discover and add to the game urge. A nice way to spend your time and get your fighting skills ready for harsh Undungeon worlds. I love unique art and atmosphere in this game. Devs put a lot of soul and love into it. As someone who doesn't really play fighting types of game, fps or rts, anything requires smashing your buttons and quick reaction, I find Undungeon fighting system pleasant, unique and innovative. Highly recommended!

I wish I could try this game out- but it doesn't even let me get past the initial "Town". The Chief just says "You haven't even talked to the traders yet," I'd be happy to try this game out again whenever I might be able to play it :)
It seems like it would be cool, but won't allow me to actually play the game. I've roamed the starting area for about half an hour now, scouring every inch of the place for someone - ANYONE - else I need to talk to but I've talked to everyone I can, and still the shaman just tells me "You still need to talk to the traders" and won't allow me to continue to the GAME part of the game. Something is broken, I'm not the only one that's commented on this problem. I'll be glad to update this review once something is fixed and I can try the game.
Not played too much yet but I'm really excited for the potential of this game. I've been waiting for years! I am recommending this game on the basis of it being a beta for the main game. As a standalone game I would not recommend this. I do have some qualms. First and most obvious, the devs NEED a better English writer. It's possible that the NPCs I spoke with are supposed to come across as "English as a second language" (it would make sense in the shift) but there are still typos and grammar mistakes that make it clear the script has not been checked by an editor. If giving the NPCs a "foreigner" quality was the goal, this should instead be done with odd turns of phrase or something. The text feels really unprofessional and that takes away from the gravity of such an epic premise. Please get a writer! The game does a good job of explaining the mechanics of fighting (normal attacks, charged attacks, healing, buffs, etc) but the UI is unexplained and a little bit unintuitive. I nearly died as Marduk because I didn't understand that he...overheats, or something, when his stamina is too high. There are great explanations of what each consumable or item does so that's cool. And I was able to "feel out" what everything means and how to navigate the various menus. Obviously there are some glitches that need to be worked out but the devs are upfront about that.
I really enjoyed this game! and It's a great Time killer and you unlock more character as you play I have a little issues with controlling the characters but that might just be me being unused to this type of games. The pixel pixek are is on point just as in Graveyard keeper and I live for it! I need to play this more to see what it unlocks more.. but so far I have not seen may weapons or such.. but I know there is more to come as mentioned I can't wait to unlock all :D :) But of what I have seen so far I am really satisfied and I enjoy the game to 100%
!
Undungeon Arena is an interesting game and one that is generally outside of my comfort zone for controls. I personally found M&K more comfortable to use than controller, but I'm older and never developed double toggle skills. That being said, the controls in game are very clean and reactive. Aiming, moving, dodging; every action is nice and clean. I did enjoy using Marduk over Void, however that seems to be more of a playstyle difference than anything else. Both the art and music are outstanding. I was jamming out to the music on the intro screen for a few minutes before I even fired up my stream and enjoyed looking at the details the pixelated art had to offer. I do wish there was a bit more tutorial for the runes though. I did not see it in my info pop up, so I managed to flub around on a few deaths do to opening the wrong slot and not being able to use any of the runes I purchased. There was also some dead space towards the top of the arena where ranged attacks immediately stop. But overall, this was a fun game to play and it has peaked my interest to look into the full Undungeon release next year.
You will play as a mighty space gladiator and fight in multiple arenas of fantastic distant worlds. Single-player Undungeon Arena features an indie story that lets you unlock multiple endings, two accessible characters, and tons of gear to get and enemies to fight. This is a preview of the main Undungeon game with a 3-4 hour combat-focused lifespan.
