Can't recommend. The game is decent enough, but very early on the game hard locks you. It forces you to pick up a potion to progress, but then soft crashes when you do. Tried reloading the game, and the screen was completely black.
Undead Citadel, developed and published by Dark Curry S.L., is a medieval dark fantasy VR action experience built around physics-driven melee combat and visceral first-person immersion. Rather than relying on flashy spectacle or cinematic cutscenes, the game places its focus squarely on the tactile sensation of wielding steel against shambling undead foes. Set in a plague-ravaged land where cursed citadels and crumbling strongholds teem with reanimated horrors, the experience is designed to make every swing, block, and parry feel personal and physically grounded within virtual space. The standout feature of Undead Citadel is its combat system. Built specifically for VR, the mechanics translate real-world arm movements directly into in-game strikes with minimal abstraction. Swords, axes, maces, shields, bows, and throwable weapons respond to player input with satisfying weight and impact. Timing and positioning matter—wildly flailing rarely succeeds, while deliberate strikes aimed at weak points or defensive gaps are rewarded. Shields can deflect incoming blows, weapons can clash mid-swing, and enemies react dynamically to where and how they are struck. The physicality of combat is reinforced by detailed sound effects and responsive animations, giving encounters a visceral intensity that makes each duel feel immediate and dangerous. Weapon variety adds depth and experimentation to the experience. With dozens of tools of destruction to discover and unlock, players can tailor their approach to suit their preferences. Fast blades favor agility and precision, heavier weapons emphasize stagger and brute force, and ranged options provide tactical breathing room when overwhelmed. Durability systems and different damage properties encourage adaptation, especially as tougher enemy types begin to appear. Some foes are shield-bearing skeletal warriors, others lumber forward in heavy armor, while certain grotesque creatures demand creative tactics to bring down efficiently. This evolving roster prevents combat from feeling static, even when revisiting similar environments. The story campaign unfolds across multiple levels that guide players through forests, fortifications, dungeons, and the towering citadel itself. Environmental storytelling carries much of the narrative weight. Scattered relics, ruined structures, and atmospheric details hint at the downfall of a once-thriving realm overtaken by dark forces. While the plot itself remains relatively straightforward, the grim setting and steady escalation of threats maintain a sense of forward momentum. Hidden collectibles and optional exploration offer additional incentives beyond simply clearing enemy waves, encouraging players to engage with the world beyond combat alone. Beyond the main campaign, additional modes extend longevity. Horde Mode places players in survival scenarios against increasingly relentless waves of undead, testing stamina, strategy, and weapon mastery. Armory Mode functions as a sandbox where all unlocked equipment can be freely experimented with, offering space to practice techniques or test different loadouts without the pressure of progression. These modes enhance replayability, particularly for players drawn to refining combat skills and chasing high survival scores. Visually, Undead Citadel embraces a moody, gothic aesthetic. Dimly lit corridors, torchlight flickering against stone walls, and fog-drenched exteriors create a somber and oppressive atmosphere. The art direction prioritizes mood over hyper-realistic detail, ensuring clarity in VR while maintaining a convincing medieval tone. The undead themselves are varied and unsettling, with decayed textures and distinct silhouettes that reinforce the game’s grim setting. Combined with immersive sound design—metal clashing, bones cracking, distant moans—the audiovisual presentation effectively sustains tension. However, the experience is not without its limitations. While combat remains engaging, mission structure can become repetitive over extended sessions, particularly for players seeking greater environmental diversity or narrative depth. The story, while serviceable, does not delve deeply into character development or complex lore. Some players may also encounter minor technical quirks depending on hardware setup, though performance is generally stable across supported platforms. Additionally, once the novelty of weapon variety settles, players craving layered RPG systems or expansive exploration may find the progression relatively streamlined. Ultimately, Undead Citadel succeeds as a focused VR melee action title that delivers on its promise of immersive swordplay against undead adversaries. Its strength lies in physical engagement—swinging blades, blocking strikes, and surviving brutal encounters through skill and precision. While it may not aim to redefine narrative-driven VR storytelling, it offers a satisfying and intense combat experience that showcases the strengths of motion-controlled gameplay. For players eager to step into a haunted medieval battlefield and test their reflexes against waves of cursed foes, Undead Citadel provides a compelling and atmospheric journey forged in steel and shadow. Rating: 7/10
So this game might be the best Physics-Based Fighting game I've played (Mostly cause it's probably the only one I've played) but this game actually might be the best one (In my opinion) and plus it has a ton of weapons to use like 80 weapons I think? which is a ton so there's no way you won't find your favorite one also I think it has some great narration but the plot ain't something that special but it's still cool. so yeah I'd give this game a solid 10/10
Meathead cut-em-up with the most unpleasantly unnecessary story mode I've seen in a long time. it's like it's performing clinical reconstructions of jokes, completely faithful to genre tropes and "what you'd expect" but not actually understanding what makes something funny. Your character just screams about brothels for most of the first act and then becomes completely devoid of personality for the rest of the game, fading into ambient crankiness. Much like the main character, the level and mechanical design of this game is not clever, with most of the puzzles being "find something somewhere in these soupy visuals." This kind of 2002 action-platformer deal results in an atrocious final bossfight that feels like it's straight out of a bad god of war copycat. I was just gonna leave this game alone because I like to see a VR game succeed these days but that final bossfight was so deepy underwhelming and tremendously frustrating that I'm over it. oh and the inventory made me lose my mind, I couldn't do anything without pulling potions off my belt and throwing them across the room. Christ.
holy $h17 300 HOURS, this game is amazing! I highly recommend modding though, not to fix any problems in the game specifically it's just another layer or layers of fun to add to the game. The physics in this game let you do almost anything. this could be a goofy simulator for dumb stuff, a serious battle to the absolute death, or even just a parkour game! every version's a little different though. i always find the newest version most enjoyable but u9 has amazing mods we just don't see anymore, u10 has amazing performance, u11 has just better feel in combat, u7 is the best hybrid all though lacks newer features due to being old! Point is that this game is amazing and should be at least tried by everyone once!
Wow, just wow, this was the best vr experience i've ever played, avery single enemy is fun to kill, you NEVER get bored, also i love the sarcarm and angryness the player has. The plot was awsome, ong. Wow, 10/10 game.
This is the best physics based fighting game out there, massively underrated, and multiplayer is coming soon as of writing, pick it up from a merchant site if you think its expensive
its good but it needs some extra tools in sandbox like being able to toggle potion effects and being able to constantly summon 1 enemy at a time without pressing the button every single time or summon multiple of the same item and its also rather annoying you can die in the armory mode at least make a god mode toggle. Besides all that the enemy variety is rather small you got regular unarmored zombies or armored zombies plus the main boss but that doesn't really count some zombie animals like wolves, bears or other zombie animals would really help the variety. I also think that making the enemies wrists actual physical objects the entire time rather than becoming a animation when the enemy attacks would help with their weapons clipping through your weapon a lot. also having more then 2 enemies at time during horde mode would be nice probably through a customization menu (I know I kinda ranted a lot but it is a good game and I do recommend it)
