About
You know, when you explain an idea, the idea fundamentally changes.
UNBEATABLE is an anime-juiced rhythm adventure where you (figuratively) destroy on stage while you (literally) destroy on stage. During rhythm gameplay, you only need two buttons: a button for up and a button for down. Simple to understand! The complicated part is doing it. Try not to get destroyed yourself.
Half the game is walking around and taking things at your own pace. The other half is trying to keep up with ours.
The pink-haired girl is Beat, and she is you, and you have a lot of things to worry about. The cops are everywhere, and they are mad at you for what feels like no good reason. Though it doesn't help your case that you keep making friends with people that the cops are mad at for slightly better reasons. But what do I know?
Talk to people, help them out (or don't, I'm not your mom!), play huge concerts, and punch cops. And then run away from the cops you punched. Also there are monsters or something. Not sure what's going on there?!?!
All of this culminates in massive setpieces where everything is at stake. The music got you here. It'll get you through it.
*if this was 1999 this section would be called "talk the talk and rock the rock"
UNBEATABLE's full arcade mode is an entire game by itself with its own progression system and a full online component. There's modifiers, tons of songs (with more to come!) and a whole challenge board to beat, with things to do that range from as simple as "beat a song on easy mode" to, one may presume, something as complicated as "solve an ancient riddle while skateboarding." That's not a real example.

FEATURES:
Story Mode: 6-8 hours. Arcade Mode: UNLIMITED
Characters that hate you!
Maybe also some that don't!
The arcade mode has a cute little profile you can customize and unlock stuff for and I think that's pretty neat
Graphics! We'd describe them but I mean it's right there, you can see it
A whole entire double album worth of original songs
plus acoustic versions of those songs
oh and also remixes, too
You can unlock all the songs by playing the narrative OR just by playing the arcade game exclusively! Great for those who truly hate stories
Something (in this game) will make you feel something (in real life)!
It's anime
If you think about it, QTEs are basically just rhythm games with no music
Please, whatever you do, the title is either all caps or no caps. Be kind to us.
And the idea changes you in return.

although the title may confuse newcomers, the game is in fact beatable
THIS GAME IS A HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. As it always is with these games, the free 2 hours you get before the refund make you a little bit doubtful of the game's quality, but they never paint you the whole picture, and the picture is that this game (or, well, at least its story part) is simply bad. - the story makes zero sense. (how did Beat even find Quaver and why did she just start following her? is the question I had 20 MINUTES into the game) - half of the written dialogues aren't voiced over by the actors, and the selection of which ones were voiced and which weren't seems to be completely random. - there is this weirdass level system with the 2.5d isometry and a 3rd person view with a camera glued to one spot that changes when you arrive at a different sublocation. - you cannot see your current goal (where you need to go) anywhere, on the map or in the journal. - the journal seems to be completely useless as soon as you lose interest in a story, which happens pretty early into the game. - there is nothing to do in this game besides listening to the nonsensical story and playing rhythm segments. - the rhythm aspect is also really, really bad. some of the note types I was seeing in the charts aren't even explained anywhere ingame, I had to look up a guide to figure out how to hit them and not lose combo. the chart switches sides very often which makes it extremely confusing even with disabled camera bobbing and shaking. some of the non-conventional charts (like baseball) aren't really explained either so it takes time to learn, and sometimes the beats just don't exist so you can't figure out when to hit neither from the beats nor from the visuals. fistfight charts make no sense either because if the notes are placed vertically you can't really understand the order in which the notes will be arriving. for example if you see two notes coming up from the top and one from the bottom it is not immediately clear whether it's gonna be T-T-B or T-B-T or B-T-T, you just have to eyeball it because you can't compare where they are relative to the uniform chart line. FWIW you can just turn on autoplay, but I don't see how not playing the charts at all improves the gameplay experience. Arcade seems fine judging by the few tracks I played, but this game isn't and shouldn't be advertised or promoted because of the arcade mode. if I wanted to play a good rhythm arcade with 2 horizontal lines I would've just kept playing Muse Dash. I came here for the story as well and I was extremely disappointed. UNBEATABLE is not the game you should be looking forward to play for the story, and especially not for the rhythm aspect.
Game good, very stylish. Worth it for either the story or arcade mode individually and yet it has both. Story was absolutely wonderful.
12 min chart 5/5
Its peak bro trust
Maybe the game thats made me feel the most of any game ever. something that heart and soul sings to me as a creator, an artist, a PERSON. I write this now just after finishing a story I wish I could experience again from the begining, I hope I will never forget this in a way that makes me wish I had made this. but I'm glad I didnt, because them I woudnt have gotten to experience it like this. I'm glad I live through this timeline despite everything. I'm glad I'm alive.
despite following UNBEATABLE's development on-and-off since the demo release, i (ironically) was hesitant to play because i wasn't as good as i thought i should be. i finally got around to it this week and Oh My God. I Get It. as everyone else has said, i did have a couple issues with softlocks and bugs, specifically with later episodes, and some collectibles such as the lighthouse picture were unavailable due to the scene skipping. but despite that, this game's artwork, music, and overall soul resonated with my struggles so deeply that i ended up crying at the final sequence and missing half of the notes (oops). i know literally everyone says that but if everyone says that then it definitely speaks to the quality and dedication of those who worked on it, even if occasionally the game is held together by double sided tape and a kiss on the forehead. it makes me sad that i playing this off for so long but it does feel like poetic justice in a way, i don't think the game would've punched as hard if i didn't. shame i can't get a quaver plush but the artistic integrity is way more important (slight cope there but we move) unbeatable my beloved. except for the ddr minigame. i hate that stupid minigame
сюжетка с живыми диалогами и эмоциями геймплей - 2 кнопки, но на последних сложностях и песнях со сбитым ритмом дает просраться лучшая атмосфера из всех ритм-игр
Oooooooooooohhhhh this game was well worth the wait. This game is a genuinely a gem that should have been talked about more. I could not overstate how incredible this game is, the art, the music, the story, oh my god I haven't cried like that in a long ass time. Is this game flawless? No, but nothing is, but this game was well worth the years I waited for it. If you enjoy rhythm games it is a CRIME that you haven't grabbed this game yet. It has simple controls, and while there are some buggy things (Mostly the Cop notes in the Story Mode not showing up if the song starts with them) its is still one of the best games I have played in a while. genuinely cracked the top 5
great concept with even better music. the story is good, but a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slog just to be honest. its genuinely about 4x the length it needed to be, which is so bittersweet because it IS good. feels like reviewing FF16 all over again. sometimes less is more devs...
