One of the more animated point and click games I have played. An interesting story of the main character being possessed by a demon and having to make morally based decisions. Pros: -Great voice acting -Lots of varying scenes -Character switching -Medium level puzzles -Good story -Kaykay being all sassy -Multiple outcomes based on decisions -personal Djinn -great city vibe Cons: -There was a picture of a kitty cat but no cats in motion -Couldn't regularly hang with Kaykay -Djinn does not actually grant wishes making you find real solutions
This is a good game. I was lucky to have someone to hang out and chat with while I played it. At one point, she started calling this game "Having a 'Normal One' in New York" and I feel that name is appropriate.
I think Unavowed still is Dave Gilbert's greatest work. I love its setting, story, characters, puzzles, everything. And what a plot twist! If there is a point and click adventure you must play it's Unavowed.
Really fantastic game. Great characters, wonderful story, very good puzzle design, and does a great job of not wasting the player's time. Also very replayable with different characters and different choices. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Point-n-click masterpiece
Hard to describe my true feelings for this game but I think the game's worth a try as it has some freshing and interesting writing in some parts I've ever seen. The supernatural things are kinda cool but the executions in game are somewhat weak, like some supernatuals talk a bit too much and are too agreeable in my opinion. The animation also feels quite off for most parts, it's still bearable if you can let that slide. The game has a fine start-off for the prologue, then it comes off a bit boring for the first case and some later ones. I personally really enjoyed the Chinatown case though, as it had the funniest and one of the most eerie atmospheres in the game. As for the puzzles, most of them are pretty easy as others have said. If you play Kathy Rain before this, you will likely feel your brain not being challenging and headache enough, so I think this game is a good entry for those aren't similar to point-and-click games with complex puzzles. Character-wise, I like Eli the most and Logan second. Feels Manada and Vicki are quite weaker in terms of writing, though their company is still enjoyable for me. Voice acting here is pretty good I must say. I also like the diverse backgrounds and funny remarks you can choose for the protagonist, making the replaying less boring.
A different take on point & click adventures. Forcing you to stay in an area until you solve it makes for more focused gameplay. While sometimes it feels more like a visual novel, other times It helps making the puzzles more cohesive and with more coherent solutions (as opposed to "clasic" point & click adventures that had some puzzles invovling travelling the whole game world without much sense) As other reviewers mentioned, there's multiple was of advance the story, depending on which characters do you choose each time. In a way, it leads to meaningful choices and the possibility of replay the whole story to check alternate solutions (though I believe the way a problem is solve does not change much the overall progression) The visual style is peculiar too. The combination of pixel art and modern effects looks nice (though sometimes perspective looks weird). In any case, it matches the plot. The awesome soundtrack and voice acting also match well with the story. In short, a great point and click adventure. Its small divergences may take some time to get on with, but the overall story (and some great "plot twists") totally deserve to be played
Really great. Please do a Logan and KayKay spinoff.
The game truly stands out with its story. This choice driven narrative game offers a fantastic experience providing 7-10 hours of pure enjoyment
