A spooky story on Halloween night. Going through various mazes and tasks in creepy places. I found the game entertaining, sometimes comical but a fun hour of gameplay.
A grieving brother seeks out a witch, in hopes of resurrecting his sister. If you watched pet cemetery, you know thats a bad idea, but times of grievance have no room for reason. Umbra Halloween looks fantastic, the lighting is really on spot, the forest is empty, yet very eerie with the soundwork. Great little cutscenes Vidas style, as usual. Theres something gigantic lurking in the woods, and you can defend yourself with a special lantern, but that had unfortunately only a one time use in the forest section. You are tasked with finding 5 herbs and 2 candles, which will grant you access to the witchs house. The house is filled with loads of cool assets, and you spend some time moving creatures around, to unlock doors for you. The final section is very red, that means scary. Ending has a good plot twist. Some things I found could have been different, would be the big creature in the forest. You encounter it two times. I was under the impression it will randomly appear while searching for the herbs, but I guess it was just scripted, and I didnt even need to use the lantern for it to disappear. The herbs themselves are found in big boxes. Would have liked it more to fill the fenced places with a field of x herb, instead of these boxes. You will receive tarrot cards, and the images on them are super low quality and AI generated, breaks somewhat the immersion, as the rest of the games assets are the exact opposite. Overall really liked this one, might be just my favorite next to Timore Redo. Thank you Vidas, for providing me with a copy, much appreciated!
Cutscenes, soundtrack and locations are incredibly beautiful.
Vidas' newest horror game is more "human" than the previous ones, while still keeping the terrifying atmosphere and general weirdness that I've always loved. Story wise, it's fine with an ending that warps the plot in a surprising way, and I'd definitely recommend picking it up.
I can't say i really understood the story elements but the game is quite inventive and i enjoyed it.
