Spoiler-free Review After a series of smaller games, Vidas delivers his next major project and it's a sequel to his easter-themed horror game Dye the Bunny. With all the promotional material released beforehand, we all knew that this one was going to be something special. The story functions as a direct continuation of the first game. While part 1 was all about Ellie breaking free from her surroundings, part 2 is about the state of liminality that she experiences as a consequence. The entire story is filled with motifs and depictions of uncertainty and regret. As usual, Vidas excels at building a psychological adventure that is anything but clearly laid out. It's as if he combined the legacy of Timore 6 with the story of Dye the Bunny. Every area and encounter is built around a piece of emotional progression that Ellie goes through. They're cryptic and surreal, but strike a balance where, even if you don't understand it all, you get it on an emotional level. While playing, I felt moved on multiple occasions, even though I often couldn't say why exactly. A major factor why the game works so well as a psycological horror game is the pacing. While the progression happens very quickly in the grand scheme of things, the individual passages take a slow approach. There's a lot of walking back and forth involved, as well as some exploring because of the optional sidequests the game presents. You could criticize this as streching out the story, but I believe that it's integral to the experience here. As you walk through the woods, ascend a ferris wheel or sit on a swing, you find yourself alone with your thoughts. With how much happens in the game, the moments of silence weigh heavy and meaningful. Where in the first game, Ellie was driven by instinct and impulse, this part of her journey is about reflecting. As she has the time to confront her thoughts, she finds how scary this kind of freedom can be. The mix of quiet, low-action moments and the emotional climaxes makes for an immaculate narrative experience that puts you into the shoes of Ellie and enables you to really empathize with her. But that's not all, because this sequel also introduces a meta-narrative, that's explored mainly through the Blue Egg Path. This one is difficult to judge, because on the one hand, it pretty much comes out of nowhere and doesn't really add a lot to the core themes, but in and of itself it is still well done and leads to some fine pieces of surreal writing. It feels out of place, but that doesn't stop it from being interesting. I'm overall pretty neutral towards it. The sequel also ups its game in terms of horror. The ever present danger of a Bunny turned hostile, combined with a great amount of creative scares, highly intrusive surrealism and skillful use of light and sound make for a pretty scary experience. It's not Martyrdom or Theater Unrest, but still finds its place among the more bone-chilling of Vidas' works. A lot of the horror comes from the feeling that anything could happen at any time. It's abundantly clear early on that you can't trust the rules of your own world, so when you encounter something weird, it immediately sets off the alarms in your head. There's two things to nitpick though. For one, the character models that are supposed to be young children look more like teenagers. It's not a problem overall, but a little off-putting nonetheless. The second thing is with the voice acting. The game features the usual, dreamlike style in the voice direction that sounds natural enough, but also a little off. It works wonderful for most of the game, but the "flatter" delivery takes away the impact of some lines where emotions should be running high. KWIRKEE has demonstrated before that she's capable of combining the surreal style with the appropriate intensity without sound out of place (prime example is her role as Violet Roselin in Timore Redo), so the fact that it's missing here makes me think that it's either intentional or because she's doing a difficult voice. Either way, I felt that one or two scenes could've used Ellie sounding a little less composed. The writing is good enough that it gets everything across though. Overall, Dye the Bunny 2 is in every way the fantastic sequel that it had the potential to be. It's one of Vidas' best and shows how far he has come as a developer. It's an outstanding work of horror, psychology and surrealism and therein combines all the things he's known for. If there's ever a part 3, I have high hopes for it.

Dye the bunny. Ellie, you have to dye the bunny. A new Vidas game that has the usual Vidas flair. Great visuals and atmosphere. There are quite a few optional puzzles in each place, which I enjoyed a lot. Being able to explore on your own was something refreshing, instead of the usually linear and claustrophobic games Vidas releases. However the story is just overall confusing. The bunny wants you to collect eggs for him, but at the same time chases you and tries to kill you. Do you want these eggs or kill me? It should have followed one of those, not both. Just doesnt work well. Horror/Surrealist centered Curator: KuriKuration
Unfortunately, this game falls short of what I expected after playing the first Dye The Bunny. The intro has no explanation and throughout the game play it continues to get more random and confusing. Too much symbolism or analogies being used to my guess because nothing made sense. The scares are misplaced and shy of hitting the mark of horror or suspense. I did not appreciate having to back track just to hide from the bunny which also confused me why I was being chased by the same thing that was telling me to kill. The voice acting of Ellie was annoying And did not match the description of Ellie herself. The sounds were a bit off and the levels also were not set correctly. I had to continue to lower and raise the volume. I have no idea why there were paths that looked like I could take them and then was blocked. I assumed I would be able to get there eventually but I would end up at another location not being able to return which brings me to another problem. There were boxes such as a box with a shotgun in it and I could never return to that which bothered me. I can't give a full review because I ended up back at the place where I started and couldn't get into my basket after trying to use the Tab and I button. After quitting the game and coming back in, nothing changed. The most awful bit about this is that I really tried to give this a chance but it's not worth the money, very disappointed in the price and what we are getting. Visually though, it was appealing and I did enjoy that part of the game or what I was able to play! 4/10 -The Dimachaerii
Great scares, a really tense environment that left me wondering what was around the corner, and that touch that Vidas adds to every game. I had a lot of fun playing through the main story and there's even more to discover in the game. https://youtu.be/jVtRtnrMjN4
An amazing game and absolutely worth to wait for. If you enjoyed the first one, you are going to love the 2nd part as well!! The voice acting is really amazing. Ellie seems so vunerable, although she looks older now. It is really a cute voice that fits perfectly to the innocence of that little girl. The Bunny sounds like a creepy psychopath but in a very good way. This Char is strong and demanding and you can here that! So a big shoutout to the voice actors which we very much enjoyed <3 The visuals are unique, dark and the athmosphere is creepy. This game isn't just based on jumpscares, it tells you a story and there are some easter eggs to find. Overall: Go and play it, it is a great game! it took us around 1 hour, maybe 30 mins more for the additional stuff. Thank you for your time and effort! ♥ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBZOint_aUM
Another wonderful entry in the strangely awesome world of Vidas Games. If you are bored of the same old jump scares and are looking for a decently atmospheric horror game then look no further. Vidas as always has a style all his own and you never know what might happen next when you play his games. Long story short, grab this and many more from Vidas and you will have a great time.
my experience was pretty disappointing. While I appreciate that the game aims for a horror vibe, it falls short in many other aspects. The gameplay itself felt clunky and unresponsive, making it frustrating to navigate. I found myself struggling with controls that didn’t seem to work as intended, which took away from any immersive experience they might have aimed for. Instead of being scared, I was often just annoyed with how slow things felt. The graphics didn't do much to impress me either; they seemed outdated and lacked the polish that can really pull you into a horror game. I was hoping for an engaging story or at least something to keep my interest, but it felt pretty bland overall. If you're looking for a horror game, you might want to skip this one. There are certainly better options out there that deliver a more enjoyable experience
Really enjoyed playing through this. If you like surreal and you like horror, definitely recommend this and its predecessor.
