About

ULTRA VERTIGO is a game about well... running and exploring. Be fast, be nimble and stay focused to get to the end as fast as you can. Modifiers and secrets will keep things fresh, go out there and explore!
To make it quick and easy (perfectly on point for this game) :
Rewarded exploration with shortcuts, secret zones and easter eggs!
Customize the game, tailor the difficulty to your needs with a neat rewind and well placed checkpoints.
Add cool and cumulative modifiers to remix the game :
A rave party mode with mesmerizing visuals and remixed musics.
Reduce gravity to get to new heights!
An... Entity...? That will haunt you and try to make you fall.
Make it jazzy. Because jazz is cool.
Ducks. Way too much rubber ducks. (Yup. You can bounce on the bigger ones).
A huge vertical level with both relaxing and demanding zones.
Easy to understand but hard to master (good luck putting your name in the leaderboard).

Jump and climb as high as possible. The finish line lies at the very top of this huge vertical level. We hope you are not afraid of heights!
Accessibility is important for us, so you will discover a wide array of customization options to tailor the game to your needs. Make it as easy or difficult as you want. Add a shadow, a cursor, checkpoints or even the ability to rewind!
The rewind can be set as unlimited, single use (per zone / per run) or disabled. It allows you to get back right before the previous jump, in case of an inconvenient fall...
Checkpoints are... Well it's explicit. Those are checkpoints. Still want to know more? Well... You can also make them single use, unlimited or just disabled.

Yes, indeed, you will fall. Quite a lot. Of course, your legs are pretty strong, there is no fall damage or anything like that. The only damage you get from falling is emotional, as the level scrolls in front of you, showing all the progress you are losing while falling.
Maybe while falling you'll find fabulous secret places...! With terrifying heights and hard jumps... Perfect places to fall! Who knows.

Keep running, keep climbing, keep falling, keep... retrying. Somewhere down the line you will succeed. It is only a matter of time, sweat and tears. Though, getting to the end of the level is only the beginning, as you can improve your time, discover new routes and find shortcuts!

Really nice game. Finished my first run in ~51 mins with several rewinds. What I loved about this game: + Rewind feature that makes the game forgiving + Different environments make every run feel fresh + Small pathfinding puzzles + Different routes + I want explore more of the tower in my next runs + Once you get the hang of the movement it feels great + It is very satisfying to land jumps that look impossible at first What could be improved: - Rewind feature feels buggy sometimes. E.g. you can spawn on platforms that descend when you stand on them. Sometimes it respawned me falling down already. But after pressing the rewind button multiple times I always found myself at a position that I was satisfied with. - Mouse speed was way too fast when I entered the game. You can turn sensitivity down in the game's options. - Compared to the other floors, the final floor felt a bit boring. It's difficulty was alright, but I felt like it didn't get as much love by the devs as the other floors.
Ultra vertigo is a fun 3d platformer with a lots of secrets to find. Some of the secrets are really hard to find, and unfortunatly, the community on steam and youtube isn't big so theres no guide, but after asking, the dev added hints in game to make it more findable by everyone which is a big plus. There is also a speedrun mode that act as a foddian mode where there is no rewind or checkpoints. And for casual, you can keep the default mode to make it easier but it will be short if you only finish the main game and don't collect secrets that way.
Update - Turns out the FOV feature was already in place and it was just an option labelling issue, awesome! Y'know what? I really enjoy Ultra Vertigo. It's not too long a game (my current PB with default settings is a bit over twenty one minutes, though the current best is just over 10 minutes at the moment. The rewind functionality makes the game a lot more accessible, as does the mutators you can unlock by exploring the tower. Two issues I think could do with tweaking: - As other reviews have mentioned - Rewind can be a little buggy if you're somewhere precarious === LOST SECTIONS UPDATE - RANT AHEAD - TLDR I HATE SECTOR THREE === Okay, on paper the Lost Sectors is 'Oh boy more cake!' situation. After a time consuming but not too bad (except for the first one, that's sneakily hidden) button hunt you get given a cryptic clue to find the lost sectors, extra sections throughout the run. The lost sectors have unique mechanics in the form of jump pads - some grant extra height, some grant extra jumps. The first two sectors are fantastic. Introducing the new mechanics, showing some cool was this could be implemented. Fanastic location design, interesting maps. And then sector three comes along and turns these fun mechanics into complete frustration. There's several massive sections where you have to weave high jump and extra jumps in long sequences without any decent chance of rest, especially a bit near the end where there's a chain of one reds going straight up that it's never trained you in. There's so much of it, with unclear paths that basically require you to try again and again and again, for each of the 100m or so bits of endless jump pads. A few extra platforms would've made the climb less painful. as I'm stuck doing hard sections over and over again just for a chance at the damn chain of '1' hop platforms. It made completing sector three frustrating to the point that I completed it out of spite just so I could write this review. Put a platform or two in the chain of endless jumps near the end. Please. And remove the damn lightning. It's RNG, flashbangs the screen to the point you can't see the sodding jump pads. The stats say I was subjected to it 64 times. ♥♥♥♥ sensitive eyes I guess I had plenty of desire to beat my time in the main path. I have zero desire to do section three again. == TLDR - Play the main game, it's sill great. Don't play the lost sectors unless you're really wanting to strain your wrists and eyes.
Comment expliquer…
I was interested when I saw this game pop up as a demo during Next Fest. I have been on a solid precision platformer kick for a while now, and this had fun aesthetic form the outset. I became truly exited once I realized who the developers were! Since I had only known them from itch io it took me a while too put 2 and 2 together. "The Just More Doors People Made A Game On Steam!" And now that we have the finished product I can say it doesn't disappoint. I completed my first run and it hits all the boxes for a good time. I like the rewind option for accessibility as it makes a tough game approachable. The alternative routes and secrets are fun to find. I fully recommend this game to precision platformer fans.
30 minutes of great experience. I would love this map has about 2000m :)
Jeu vraiment sympa !
"Bennett Foddy's ♥♥♥♥ I fell down and lost like 20 minutes of progress" Ultra Vertigo is one of those games that’s simultaneously very cool and deeply infuriating. The first-person vertical platforming feels great when you’re chaining jumps together properly, and the rewind mechanic adds some genuinely smart tension management. The problem is that the game also loves punishing failure by sending you plummeting into the abyss and erasing massive chunks of progress. After a while it stopped feeling challenging and started feeling like the game was personally insulting me. There’s a fantastic movement system buried underneath all the suffering.
