TV Head: Eight Pages

Okay, this game has SO much potential. Don't you dare abandon it, dev! It's an obvious Slender: The Eight Pages wannabe, but... There's so much stuff that can be done with a game like this. First off, it looks incredibly beautiful, and the atmosphere is one that is easy to drown into. But good God the optimization is a mixed bag, I wish the developer can find a way to make it run smoother and better, the FPS settings are also incredibly inconsistent, and I also had a hard time finding the difference of Ray Tracing On/Off and DLSS On/Off. The game should be set as early access, as it is FAR from finished. But for the extremely small price, your money would be worth it at least 50/50. The FOV Option straight up does NOT work. It's always set at an extremely low Field Of View which is dissappointing. I don't know if this can mess up the gameplay, but I'd also add in some stealth mechanics, I'm often wondered how the heck I'm seen by those robots in pitch black nature. Also death sound effects are dissappointing. The robots look very threatening and I think they deserve a whole lot better. If you have nothing to spend a dollar on, I think this is decently worth it, but damn is the game janky and needs a lot of work. I'm going to revisit it in the future. Cute cat btw.

Spiel ist für 30 Cent eigentlich echt ganz ok! Ich würde sagen, dass der Entwickler definitiv noch ein paar Bugs fixen muss - dennoch finde ich das Spiel gut. Für 30 Cent macht man an der Stelle nix falsch, vorallem wenn man ein Stream oder Video dazu macht als Youtuber

- Fix FPS bug - Fix FOV bug - DECREASE THE HEAD BOB WHEN RUNNING (this makes it unplayable for me) - Add actual "pages" to keep the "scary" aspect instead of cat photos etc. Do this and this game has MASSIVE potential!

This game is pretty darn fun. I like the fact that if you go into the house, they can't get in. Which comes in handy. The translation directly from the Steam page: "You find yourself completely alone in the middle of a dark forest. You have no weapons and no one is coming to help. A dim flashlight lighting your way is your only friend. Your goal is to explore the area, find eight pictures, and leave this creepy place." – that's a lie: there's no flashlight in the game. "Wandering through the dark forest, you might spot a bright light in the distance or hear strange noises, like a broken TV hissing. You really shouldn’t go check it out. Just run." - the enemies are just reworked versions of the monster (which used to be a Russian meme) Siren Head, but the creator just stuck old Soviet-era TVs on their heads instead of sirens. Of course, the monsters aren’t scary, and they aren’t even funny. They’re basically nothing, in every way. No ambient atmosphere while picking up photos, nothing. They just wander around randomly and spawn in the locations, and no matter what you do, they decide for themselves what and how they want things. Enemies in the game come in two types. Usually, up to level 3, you’ll encounter regular mini-dummies about the same height as the hero (the screens flash with static—the hero can take two hits from them, and at least you can shake them off your back). Then there’s the giant one, apparently with a TV for a head. Yes, really huge, you can see it from the other end of the map. Its glow is red—so if it randomly spots you and you don’t get out of its red glow zone, you’re screwed (almost impossible to survive). Honestly, it’s basically the only enemy that’s truly dangerous. The mini-dummies can’t catch the protagonist, and stamina in the game never runs out. Though it’s annoying that the main character is always breathing loudly. "To complete the level, you need to find eight pictures. Usually, in games like this, players are supposed to look for notes or some scary drawings, but here it's a bit different. I just took a few photos of my cat and added them to the game. To finish the level, you have to find all her photos." - Of course, the game has no plot whatsoever. The developer just swapped notes for photos. I have nothing against his cat or cats in general, but it’s not atmospheric at all (especially since when you pick up the "note," as I mentioned above, nothing happens, and it doesn’t build any tension). And for the idiots in the "it’s a joke game, you idiot" category, my reply: this is honestly useless junk on Steam that you pay 50 rubles for. Also, the author isn’t trolling or anything—but even that little concession feels... I don’t even know how to put it. The photos you need to collect in the game are actually huge and glow in the dark, framed in white, which kills the tension and the urge to explore the locations. And since I’m comparing it to Slender: 8 Pages—at least there the notes were randomized, and after a few tries you could just memorize the locations. Here, everything is scripted and pops up in the exact same spots. And the location in STEP, although it seemed too dark, here it’s just because all three maps are massive. Considering the author slapped the game together in Unreal Engine with awful optimization, you just get tired running back and forth. Finally: "In the main menu, you can pick one of three available levels: Dense Jungle, Winter Forest, or Swamp. No matter what you choose, you’ll face darkness, thick fog, and a creepy atmosphere." - total BS, seriously, there’s neither fear nor fun. Yeah, the game has 3 levels, and honestly, I’ve only played through the Winter Forest (which has a cool mechanic: if you’re not near a heat source for 1 minute 30 seconds, you die) - don’t feel like trying the rest. The Swamp map is unbalanced with enemy spawns, and the main enemy spots you way too fast, and in the Dense Jungle everything blends together, making it really hard to find the pictures. Alright, some random GDNomaD churns out just as crappy so-called horror games, but at least they have Steam cards in their games and actually bother to make stuff for Steam, even if it’s unrelated to the game. This guy, on the other hand, brings zero benefit to Steam and still wants the same money for a couple of test scraps for the reviewer. Most of his games are just dumb, incoherent walking simulators slapped together in Unreal Engine for no reason, just burning out your graphics card like this one.
