Decent first game for a group of students, some bugs but overall pretty fun 1-2hour experience for under 2 pounds. plus the robot that sells you stuff is kinda cute
Grab your gauntlet complete with hookshot and swing around, the goal is to climb up a tower thing, but on the way you'll need to fight a bunch of things like an evil monster butcher https://youtu.be/P3laMT--XUo
I got Trials of the Gauntlet in a bundle. This is a 2D retro pixel platformer with some elements of hand drawn art. There's a simple brawling mechanism and a grappling mechanism ripped off from various other 2D platformers, although with a twist, there are different kinds of grappling tools. The game is story driven with a simple plot. Despite being built with the Unity engine, the graphics are low effort retro pixel shovelware tier. The hand drawn art is eye stingingly bad. For some reason the character always moves to the left, this could be caused by the developer incorrectly mapping default controls of peripherals like HOTAS and so on. Either way, poor graphics and uninspired gameplay (platformers died in the early 1990s!) makes for a disappointing experience, I can't recommend this over any of the thousands of other 2D platformers infesting Steam.
The game is pixelated, something I personally do not like, but I played it anyway! The game is short, but kind of compelling - you want to keep playing it and reach the end. Its story is interesting without it being too cheesy - I liked the Journals part with the story of the Tesla-Eddison rivalry and consequences. The game has the graphics and feel of a classic, but clunky 2D platformer, but also feels fresh because of the gauntlet mechanic that lets you progress through the game in different ways. The character can also run electricity through his gauntlet and it appears to be related, not only to the person who put the device on his arm, but also to Nikola Tesla, which makes you even more empathic with him and more involved with the story. I received it for free and probably that's why I liked it more than I thought I would. There are bugs, controls don't always work and some bugs are inconsistent. Also - the achievements don't work - the developer promised to fix them, but months go by and they are still not fixed. That takes away a little from the experience and proportionately to the overall game score of 2 stars that I'm giving. I wouldn't recommend buying at full price for not receiving the full features which are listed on Steam (as achievments etc). EDIT: Whatever happened, the developer has abandoned this game. He promised to work on it, after his exams pass or soemthing, but almost 5 months after that promise, nothing is happening. I feel lied to. The achievements are locked, and all your hard work won't be rewarded with the appropriate achievements. It is not fair, and unless changed, I am giving this a negative review! Don't bother buying this, regardless if you wanted to 100% its achievements or not!
Es un juego que, si fuera gratis, hoy en dia, estaría bien. Pero como no lo es, graficos mediocres, que no compensan por su jugabilidad, ni su lore, a demas de no tener multiidiomas. Mejorable, sin duda.
Features of the game: + atmospheric music that's not Kevin McLeod + fine "pixelated" art + story + short (less than 2 hours) - mechanic of grapple is not 100% effective... - bugs... - lack of achievements despite having them in store (they will come, but should be done now) - lack of controller support [not important part for me]

lots of potential!
