About
Trench Face is an RPG Survival Horror game set in an alternate history.
You wake up hours after a battle without any knowledge on what happened since. The place is deserted with nothing but corpses and seemingly unexplainable objects moving high up in the sky. Your goal is to escape to the forest and regroup with your comrade's safety. You will find clues to what happened as you go on, and eventually understand why you're here, uncovering the mystery.
The game features turn based combat where one turn can be the difference between life and death. You're frail to the monsters opposing you, but you have many tools to help with your survival if you're put in that position. Attacks work with a timed attack system where you need to aim and hit them at the right time to land your hits. Guns also allow for individual aiming for enemy limbs, such as using 3 bullets at once to hit 3 different limbs.
Make good use of all your resources, as they run out quick, and you don't want to be caught without ways to defend yourself. If you do run out, you can always search of any scraps left behind. You can use scraps to craft items, such as ammo, or healing items.
You are not a hero. Your enemies will make quick work of you, unless you're smart on how to go about each encounter. You can always use stealth to hide from enemies looking for you, potentially being able to avoid almost most of them if you know what you're doing.
The trenches are filled with secrets, and resources. You can find shortcuts, or rooms to be unlocked later on for more loot. The hanging figures patrol these areas looking for you, with different movement patterns depending on which monster it is. The best option in patrolling these areas is to scavenge for supplies and avoid anyone if possible.
All the enemies have their own strengths and weaknesses. You can use puzzle like problem solving to know how to deal with each one of them in the most resourceful ways. Once a fight starts there is no running away, so you better be prepared if you're thinking of starting something.
There are 3 initial classes, which you select one of at the start of a new game.
The Raider - Focus on close quarters combat
The Sniper - Good with gun management
The Medic - Learn how to craft healing items

I liked the symbolism and art of the game, the mechanics are really nice and unique. The only issue is that it's too difficult atleast for me, you shouldn't die on normal at the start, I died 3 times trying to beat trench 2. My recommendation is keep the difficulty where it's at, but just add an easy mode for new players to RPG games.
Story (1/5)
I might be the only ♥♥♥♥♥ who reads the Steam description. "You will find clues to what happened as you go on, and eventually understand why you're here, uncovering the mystery." The clues and the mystery that you "uncover" are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vague that you can come up with 100 different explanations, and they would all fit without any problems. To the retarded, this might seem like good storytelling, but to the enlightened ones, this will suck ass. As a player, if you don't have a somewhat clear vision of what the main story is in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RPG Maker game, then the dev failed big time. No one is going online and playing this game for the gameplay. They are coming for the story, graphics, and the overall atmosphere. However, if you are missing the story, then all you have left are graphics and gameplay, and they cannot carry this product on their own.
Gameplay (1/5)
Let us check the description again. "You're frail to the monsters opposing you, but you have many tools to help with your survival if you're put in that position." What tools? You mean different versions of Attack, since Guard does ♥♥♥♥ all. "Make good use of all your resources, as they run out quick, and you don't want to be caught without ways to defend yourself." Get the bag that gives you double remains on enemy death, and you will never have problems with resources ever again. You can get the bag at the very start of the game as well. "You can always use stealth to hide from enemies looking for you, potentially being able to avoid almost all of them if you know what you're doing." What the ♥♥♥♥ do you mean by stealth? You place the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enemies in front of doors or make them come straight at you in a narrow corridor. How am I supposed to avoid that? "The trenches are filled with secrets and resources. You can find shortcuts, or rooms to be unlocked later on for more loot. The hanging figures patrol these areas looking for you, with different movement patterns depending on which monster it is. The best option in patrolling these areas is to scavenge for supplies and avoid anyone if possible." What secrets? Where are the different movement patterns based on which monster I'm fighting? How am I supposed to avoid them when you place them in unavoidable areas? So, as you can see, the Steam description is a mess, but is the gameplay still bad? Yes. Yes, it is. It's an RPG Maker game without anything that makes those types of games fun. No story means you don't have a reason to play, and bad gameplay means the game lacks any fun. If it's not fun, why bother?
Difficulty (1/5)
The difficulty comes from the fact that you will die a couple of times before figuring out the enemy pattern. There are like four enemies in the game that you will encounter multiple times. Learn them, and then the game will be a breeze.
Game Time (1/5)
Way too short, way too boring.
Graphics (1.5/5)
I like the style and concept, but I need a clear explanation of what they actually mean to truly appreciate them.
Music and Sound Design (1/5)
Heavy breathing noises for the first half of the game. No thank you.
Performance (5/5)
No problems with the performance.
Price (1/5)
If you watch a YouTube video, you have played the game. Do you want to spend €2.99 on that?
Final Verdict (1.5/5)
Very disappointing. This just furthers the fact that Steam reviews mean nothing at all. The game has 93% positive reviews because these people have not played anything better. Very sad to see.
I like rpg games, especially rpgmaker games. There is a novelty to them I love. So when I discovered Trench face I was ecstatic. The WW1 aesthetic drew me immediately as well as the artstyle. This game for me is one of those scenarios where I wish steam had a neutral way to review because that's how I feel. The game left me more so annoyed with its questionable enemy placement & near useless crafting system. If you want a frame of reference I'd argue this is the DS2 of rpgmaker games in terms of enemy placement. The combat in general I didn't care for and found tedious, which to be fair is usual folly of rpgmaker games but still. However, art direction an atmosphere are top notch here. Really has such a cool uncanny & oppressive vibe that even at the end of the game still held true. My next point I feel is more "subjective" than anything else but I felt the story was to vague, or at least didn't provide enough breadcrumbs for proper speculation. Listen a story can be as metaphorical/vague as you want it to be but stories (in my opinion) to a lot of heavy lifting for rpgmaker games and I felt I still didn't have the slightest clue as to what the game was about, whether I missed something important if the game truly didn't provide enough details I am not sure but I didn't feel satisfied. overall I'd say gameplay loop was a strong meh, story had an amazing hook to begin with but never fully reeled me in but art direction and atmosphere are 10/10. I am not sure if ill get to the expansion but if I do ill probably add/edit my review
too difficult for no reason, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fight mechanics, too little save points.

무서운거만 버티면 생각할 것도 많고 재밌슨 게임이네요. 절대 전쟁 하지맙시다. 뛰는 건 다 가족이 있고 친구가있는, '사람'입니다.
