About

1 copy sold = 1 real tree planted. I will personally be planting the trees on local farms and schools, and looking after them for years to come. If the game is popular I will also be planting wildflowers and creating new flower meadows too! Meaning if you buy Treeplanter you’ll help restore real life nature too!!

Welcome to Treeplanter, an interactive woodland that changes with the seasons. Piece together a small grove of trees. Watch as their roots blossom under the soil.
Features:
A soothing interactive toybox for fans of games like Summerhouse and Tiny Glade!
Piece together woodland with a playful lego-like design!
Procedural creatures turn your grove into a living landscape!
Watch the woodland change throughout the different seasons!
Learn about the natural world above and below!

Based on what you place and build, an ecosystem of animals, plants and birds will move in, turning your creation into their home!

Combining meditation and education, Treeplanter aims to teach players about the interconnected wonders of the natural world, above and below ground.

The Treeplanter prototype was co-created with a small team of rural young people, aged 18-20, they created the majority of the art, visual effects and also did cool things like the fungi and root growing systems! They were paid and mentored thanks to funding from the Eastern Education Group, and were directed by me (Henry). Then we finished Treeplanter off with help from talented friends. Big thanks to everyone, especially Rianna Suen (lead code) and Halime Karaca (lead art).
Please keep in mind that this is a small game with no goals or challenges, created by Henry with help from his friends, as well as students - it's all about creating small but beautiful dioramas, using the tools and items from the game alongside the influences of nature :)

Alright. Treeplanter: Plant real trees🌲 isn't really a game that can be done and dusted, lol. Rather, it's simply a playscape from which you can create your own bit of serenity. Obviously, the biggest draw is the dev's mission to plant a tree for every copy of the game purchased. His bio basically states that he and his students plant(ed) trees to provide them with worthwhile employment opportunities. And then he and his friends kept up with the trees afterwards. And there is a real-life foundation which you can follow. Two actually. Which let you know that at a core level, Henry is doing what he says he is doing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3712301184 One is 'tree council dot org', where you can become a Tree Warden in the UK. Their mission statement reads as follows: Whether you want to get your hands in the earth and plant trees, raise awareness about trees in your local community, or simply be the eyes, ears and voice for the trees down your street, you have what it takes to be a Tree Warden. The second is "woodland trust dot org dot uk". Their missions statement reads as follows: Trees help people and nature thrive. Getting more in the ground will give us all a greener, healthier future, so we’re giving thousands away free to schools, councils, clubs and community groups to help make that happen. So, aside from the obvious real-life benefit, why would you want to play this? IMO, it is a program that simply allows you to create some visual masterpieces and have a simple, nice and relaxed time doing so. There is a decent selection of basic backgrounds with which to play with and a good selection of both natural and crafted assets to incorporate into said backgrounds. The natural assets include a variety of trees, bushes, flowers, mushrooms and such. With trees and bushes, you will first place the trunks or what have you, then fill them in with their leaves/flowers. You can of course mix and match, creating some hybrids unique to your crafted setting. The crafted assets include things like windmills, parts of ruined buildings, balls, lights, and so on. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3712301149 Everything can be placed more or less where you want them. There are limitations though, which I wouldn't mind seeing tweaked. For example, if you build a windmill, you can adorn it with lighting, but not something like moss or ivy. And if you have a tree next to it, the leaves can never be placed in front of it. They default to being placed behind the windmill. The limitations with this program are all in that vein. Nothing significant, but it would be cool to see that tweaked a bit. There are also some animations for each setting, such as a dog running around and playing, coyotes/foxes, birds, windmill blades turning, rain falling, etc... Additionally, you can set weather, time of day, and seasons as well. And you can change them at will to see how your constructs look under different conditions. That's a particularly nice option. There is an undo button if you want to go back a couple steps. There is also a delete function. Sometimes, that can be a bit fickle trying to get it to identify the specific thing you want deleted. I found the undo button to be more practical under most circumstances. The graphics themselves are quite pleasing and filled with bursts of color. The soundtrack has some cool kinda folky new age-ish tunes to help set the mood. It's a very chill vibe being created here. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3712301115 I think that's about it. If you go into this thinking of it as a no stakes and completely casual little builder or playscape, you can have plenty of fun designing new backgrounds. And it is definitely a must own if you are a screen archer. Of course, if you are conscious of our environment, this is also a must own for obvious reasons. The four-dollar price tag is perfect for the experience, and you also get to support a good cause in buying this. I see no reason not to give this a look. For creative people, a sweet little space to build a cozy spot with trees, flowers, lights, and many other items. I was mostly sold on the "one tree planted per copy sold". The atmospheric sound is really well done, and I enjoyed listening to it a lot while playing the game. Once in a while, interesting facts about wildlife pop up, which is a good way to learn a few details. Having this as a background on a second screen makes for a warm, outdoorsy feeling. I hope you get to plant many more trees in the future :)
An excellent work! So beautiful and fantastic! But....can I ask for some improvements? 1. Add Hide-Ui button. Currently it need to wait for some time for UI to hide itself. 2. Add more resolution. Many modern laptops have a more-square screen than the resolution the game provided. 3. Add Hide-Root function, or make the root's color changes with time. Because roots are always Neon Blue, if in sunset or midnoon, it will be odd and weird. 4. Add Delete/Copy/Rename-GameSave functions. 5. Decorations are too easy to be miss-deleted by deletion tool, 6. Didn't see a single animal during hours of playing, Perhaps add elaboration on the mechanisms of the Spawn of Animals?
So, genug erstmal. Ich will nicht zuviel verraten... Von mir jedenfalls eine begeisterte Kaufempfehlung!
first order of business! a BIG order of business, at that: i'd like to thank the devs for their cause; it makes my heart feel so full and i consider Treeplanter a ripple that beautifully flows itself to others (like waterfalls from Debussy's Clair de Lune, or the intro to Strawberry Guy's Mrs. Magic Strings Edition) whether it be in the form of act or mindset rooting from one foundational element: love! yes! love! why i tell you it's a ripple is that it makes me love deeper. to anything. to anyone! and i hope it flows the same to you, and from you to others, and others to all. i've always had this state of mind where my heart is an open field with one. singular. BIG! HUGE! ANCIENT! WISE! LOVED! oak tree. "Ithil" is what i named that place. and, welll.. (scoffs happily) well, well, well.. that really did it for me. i saw that state of mind in material form here. how lovely. famously, and maybe cliché-ly they say, "you spend most of your life inside your head, make it a nice place to be." i weep slightly that Ithil exists here. it's infinitely grand, you can't exhaust that out of me. if it calls out to you-- if you decide to give it meaning, a good one at that; you'd have a brilliant time. it's a malleable experience and maybe a chance to say hello again to your inner child. creativity adores us all, adore it back. --and a tree planted, all because of you. after all, the question is not why, but why not? ;) cheers!
Was ist alles möglich?
https://youtu.be/mMDsqyw5oNs A casual experience with incredible graphics and music. This is just one of those game in which you lose track of times building beautiful landscapes while listening to some incredible music. I would highly recommend for the price.
It feels more like a project than a game, and honestly, that's exactly what it is.
The developer says they plant one real tree for every copy sold, and that's the main reason I bought it. I really like the idea that you can have a small positive impact on the real world just by buying and playing a game on Steam.
The "Game"
There isn't really a goal or traditional gameplay here. It's more of a sandbox where you create your own experience. The best use I found was building beautiful little scenes with different trees, lighting, and colors, then taking screenshots to use as wallpapers. Visually, it's genuinely impressive. The lighting is excellent, the environments are colorful and relaxing, and the overall art style feels unique. There are plenty of tools that let you create your own scenes, and that's clearly where most of the effort went.
What I'd Like to See
I'd love to see the developer add at least some Steam achievements. Trading cards, badges, or even profile items would also be a great fit. Considering the game's unique visual style, I think they could look really good.
What seemed like just another sweet lil sandbox quickly became one of the most relaxing game's I've played in a real good while! The controls are simple and intuitive where its real easy to just put together something serene! And then, as you keep adding to your scene, experimenting with tiles, plants, trees, seasons and weather,, you see lil creatures just come in to live in your scenery; the roots growing under the earth pulsing like heart beats.. All the while you get to enjoy the serenity of the sounds of nature and soothing soundtrack.. Seriously suprised with how much I loved this one and I keep opening it to make another garden and leave it on as a nice soothing background and ambiance while I'm working on something by the desk! 100% recommend if you're just looking for something to relax and slowdown to! PS: Trees!
