I installed Stack Masters and before I knew it put 2.5 hours into this wonderful indie game. It's a beautiful presentation with some really fun physics-based mechanics. I appreciate the SAVE/LOAD features for when you make a creative stack and want to keep trying to make it better. I still can't believe the developer is selling this for only $4.99 CDN! A FEW TIPS FROM ME: >> Don't forget about the little number in the bottom-right corner! Move your mouse around to see how high the number goes for when you're aiming for a high score! >> Don't forget the ZOOM wheel on your mouse (or keyboard button) for when you want to make really precise balancing. >> Don't forget that the game saves your best attempts on every level, but you will learn more techniques as you go! Go back and best those early scores!
I was given a key to this game in pre-alpha state. Even then, the game was fun for some casual puzzle solving. The game has evolved and been polished into an even better player experience. Simple concept: Stack blocks to reach a goal. Reality: much more challenging than it appears. Blocks aren't square and puzzles make reaching the goal brain bending at times. There are many ways to solve the same goal. Some puzzles can be frustrating with restrictions, but some creative brainpower or the occasional chuck of a piece will get you there. Great soundtrack, fantastic visuals, amazing puzzles. Also the ability to create your own levels and share to Steam Workshop.
TL;DR Below. Stack Masters is an addictive and delightful game that offers hours of entertainment and challenges for players of all ages. Having had the privilege of playing it before its release, I can confidently say that it delivers a truly enjoyable gaming experience. The game revolves around stacking blocks, creating towering structures, and reaching the goal zone. With each level, you'll find yourself facing new challenges that require a careful balance of strategy and skill. The physics mechanics add an extra layer of complexity, making every move count and every tower construction a puzzle to be solved. One aspect that sets Stack Masters apart is its competitive element. The game not only provides a relaxing and zen-like atmosphere to unwind but also encourages friendly competition among friends. The inclusion of leaderboards creates a healthy rivalry, as you strive to outperform your friends and achieve the highest scores possible. It adds an extra level of motivation and replay value to the game. I particularly enjoyed the variety of levels and themes that Stack Masters offers. Each level feels unique and presents its own set of physics-based obstacles to overcome. Whether you're a casual player seeking a calming experience or a hardcore gamer looking for a true challenge, Stack Masters caters to both ends of the spectrum. It strikes a perfect balance between relaxation and a satisfying brain-teaser. The game's visuals and sound design deserve commendation as well. The graphics are visually appealing, and the attention to detail is evident throughout. Combined with the soothing music, the overall aesthetic creates a truly immersive and enjoyable experience. While Stack Masters is developed by a single developer, it impressively showcases a high level of quality and polish. The dedication and passion of the developer are clearly evident in the game's mechanics, art, and overall presentation. On a personal side of things, my 12 and 10 year old have played this game and have thoroughly enjoyed the building aspect. My 12 year old has Tourettes and ADHD, and in his words "this game does something that makes my brain feel better". My 10 year old loves the Level Editor, where he can, in his words, "make hard levels that my brother can't beat!". In conclusion, Stack Masters is a fantastic addition to any gaming library. Its addictive gameplay, wide variety of levels, competitive element, and overall charm make it a standout title. Whether you're seeking a relaxing challenge or a thrilling competition with friends, Stack Masters delivers on both fronts. With its addictive nature, Stack Masters has the potential to keep you entertained for hours on end. >> TL;DR << -Developed by a single developer, showcasing dedication and passion. -Block building... need I say more. -Space graphics. -Relaxing music. -Compete against your friends. -Challenging puzzles. -You can make your own levels. -A fantastic addition to any gaming library. 10/10 Thanks for reading! Happy gaming!
Oh, cool. A little stacking game? This will be fun. Nice physics, chill music, cool graphics. Love that zoom feature, and how juiced everything is. Oh, look, there's leader boards? Sweet... *proceeds to spend the next 29 minutes trying to reach 1 pixel higher on the easiest level to get the world record* Beautiful. If you've got any competitive spirit in ya, this game will eat you alive in the best possible way.
Surprisingly polished. Fun game, and a steal at that price point!
A simple but tricky game of putting one block on top of the other in order to reach as high as possible. The blocks frequently don't cooperate when it comes to conveniently-stackable shapes but there's always a trick to get it right, whether that be using the walls of the stage as a brace or carefully angling two complimentary blocks so they don't slide off each other and create a reasonably flattish surface. New levels bring new wrinkles, like blocks that can't be manually rotated but instead pivot around the point where you hold them, or zones where you can't hold the block but instead need to toss or drop it and hope it lands just right. The game is meant to be tinkered with, so a failed stack is just another experiment to getting it right, and once it comes together you can easily see the high scores of everyone else and realize that, yes, there's a much more effective approach hiding amidst the pieces. The strength of the puzzle is how free-form it can be, with the simplicity of the concept hiding a huge amount of flexibility in coming up with new solutions. You can approach Stack Masters as a casual game but once you figure out a few strategies it doesn't stay that way for long.
This game is so fun, a great challenge to try and balance the pieces and solve the puzzles. With many different challenges and physics. If you need a chill game to sit and calm down with, this is perfect, but also if you want a true challenge, this is also the perfect game. It is so satisfying once you solve a level that it leaves you wanting more. The leaderboard being included is great to challenge yourself to get the best score and to get a better score than your friends.
Full disclosure, I have worked closely with the developer on this game as an alpha tester. With over 150 hours experience I have pushed this game to the limit. But I can assure you there are no biases here. From the moment I saw it streamed I had to play it and it's been a regular game for me since joining the alpha test. The possibilities are endless. Once I mastered levels, I built levels (You can find some in-game already!). Levels can be as simple or as complicated as you like. For the most determined among you, there are leaderboards and world records to chase. I haven't been able to stop myself being drawn in by that and have several world records already (okay, I have a lot of records, but my point still stands). I really look forward to seeing new people take up the challenge. I found it very easy to spend an hour or more pushing world records to breaking point. For what you get, and you get a lot, the price is unbeatable. It's a game you can keep coming back to. And with the endless possibilities for level creation, there is hundreds of hours of content and so many mechanics and features. You will undoubtedly come up with more new and different ways to do things as you bend physics to your will. There is so much freedom to do things in your own way with most of the game. Most levels have several solutions. There is no right or wrong for the most part. Which makes it a great game to chill out with and play at your own pace. The developer has been immensely responsive to community feedback and produced quite a gem of a game. You simply cant go wrong with it. It has something for every one. Very quick to address bugs and other issues, of which were minimal and minor to begin with. The ground work was solid from the get go and most of the work during alpha has been content additions and refinement. There are so many games out there with unresponsive and neglectful dev teams but you wont have that issue here. It's simply an amazing game with great developer support and something for everyone that can keep you busy indefinitely if you let it. Definitely a no-brainer purchase. I look forward to seeing new names on the leaderboards soon! May your stacks be stable and true!
Stack block to reach goal. Easy, right? Not easy. A lot of fun though. Physics are fun, game itself is fun, and Paul is an incredible dev. Best $4 you'll spend if you enjoy puzzle games.
Do it for the Shack!!
