It started out fun, but the side tasks quickly became monotonous. Even that would've been okay as it only took about two hours to complete all of the museum jobs required to unlock all of the pieces needed for the exhibitions... but at that point the game simply became frustrating. Pieces of track would glitch out and become invisible, with nothing seemingly fixing this. Thus it became a puzzle of trying to make a loop with the tracks that I could actually see. I'm forgiving of many bugs in games, but bugs that add unintended difficulty are not one of them. To make matters worse, fighting with this was exacerbated by certain exhibitions (the Wild West one in particular) placing the starting bit of track in a place where only one side of it could be built off of, as the other side was... well who knows really. My assumption was that it had been placed close enough to the edge of the mountain that there was a tiny bit of terrain blocking it. Attempting to smooth out, flatten, or lower the terrain did not fix this, however. Obviously this made the exhibition impossible as part of the requirement is to make a closed loop. I was able to get around this by looping the track into itself and ignoring half of the board, but this shouldn't have been what I had to do. Overall, it was briefly fun and cute but got old quickly and then introduced bugs with seemingly no fix, resulting in frustration. But hey, at least Grandpa's board was cool.

I haven't put a lot of hours in yet so I can't give a full review. But one thing I would like to see is the ability to clip objects together to make a new ones. I had made a really nice mountain and then was going to run a train through it, only to find out the tunnel track has to be on flat ground and you can't build anything around it and not even close to it, which feels like it defeats the purpose of having a nice tunnel. I also can't merge roads together to make them country style. Also terrain disappears when placing objects, some ruins would look way better with clipping allowed. Overall I recommend it for now because I like trains and the concept of making model train layouts without spending real life money. When I find time to come back to play it I'll update this review if anything has changed.
YES BUT [+] Good music [+] Satisfying terrain editor [+] Clear controls [+] Many decorations [+] Very easy to get started [-] Terrain is only for looks and placing anything onto it will flatten it, bridges included. [-] While there are multiple levels of Undo/Redo, the Terrain painting tool doesn't show the brush size clearly. [-] While the direction of flowing water can be changed, it all flows at once (you are rotating the texture). [-] Workshop is full of creations without screenshots and actual modding requires a Unity package from Github. [-] Paintings and images on the walls have odd singularities; awaiting a comment from any of the developers. Verdict: Good overall experience but may be too simplistic for players looking for an easier Rolling Line. I will keep it & give Train Yard Builder another go.
