I love the game!
Straight up good game, it hits all the right notes for total war games
Great game even after all those years.
Total War series so far is very good strategy game, the feeling commanding thousand of troops, the war, the aftermath, all feels perfect.
Shogun 2 is in my biased opinion one of the most solid games out of the Total War franchise. I have a tendency to start new campaignes, but with Shogun 2, I have completed the game with every faction on the normal difficulty. The units are responsive, the music gives a great atmospheric background and in the late game, you can actually face larger enemies or coaltions of enemies. While the unit roster is almost identical for all factions, both position and the bonuses make for different experiences in each campaign - even if it boils down to "What color do I want to paint the map, and what flags do I want to see in the battles". I have had wonderful stressful moments as Uesugi - feeling like I'm thrown into a madhouse of battle-crazed neighbours. I have glorious moments of sweeping across battle fields with the Takeda cavalary or builting up a charge starting from the North East with Date all the way down to the south. And don't forget the swarm of Oda Ashigaru! Why recruit a samurai unit, if I can have thrice the amount of Ashigaru? Even clans without specific bonus that benefit the battlefield - like the Mori - can be very fun due to the different dynamics that play out in the early game in different parts of the map. Lastly, I want to give a shout-out to the mod that adds an immense amount of provinces to the base game. It feels like you are getting Shogun 2 - Extended Version. Due to the map changes you experience different challenges in every part - the early game survival, the regional showdown and the clash of big late game factions. In Addition: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai has some of the best naval battles in all the Total War games, I have played so far. Naval battles are not always the strong suit of Total War, but these were really fun!
