Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.86/day in the week to Sep 1 → 4.43/day in the week after.

Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; GOG, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

So clunky UI. You feel lost even in the prologue

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 12: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3/day in the week to Aug 16 → 6.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

玩东西罗马,创业不容易,守业也不容易
the game needs to be fixed on launch. when you buy this it will be a stuttering mess that you will have to bug fix. after that, i did like the campaign more than rtw2 but just barely enough to get through 1 campaign. dont plan on playing it any further. if u get on sale and really want to play ERE, id say its worth it. i did somewhat enjoy that campaign despite some egregious gameplay designs bugs etc
Pretty fun game. The combat and battles are easily a step up from the disapointing Rome 2 but a downgrade when compared to Shogun 2. The AI is competent when playing on Hard difficulty but gets absolutely unfair cheats on VH with unfair stat boosts and your units for the first 70 turns will be outclassed. The campaign is pretty good but not as developed and optimizable as in Rome 2; all settlements you basically build the same buildings which is disapointing (spam farms, a town center, granary). After 2 unfinished playthroughs (as Saxons and Franks) I feel like i got to see what the game has to offer. 6/10
Best Total War!
Bought this back in the day but never played it as I was way too sucked into Paradox games at the time. In fact, I haven't touched any Total War games in years. Since it recently got updated for Mac, and wanting to experience this one as I loved Barbarian Invasion for the original Rome Total War, I decided to give this a shot, and of course now I'm addicted to it. First off, the optimization: No, it's not really better on Macs than it is on PCs, but it runs well enough even though the framerate does tend to dip a lot. That said, it doesn't really affect the playability of the game. If I had a more recent Mac, I'm sure it would run a bit better, but as it is I have few complaints. So, how is it coming back to the Total War series with what is probably the hardest game? Tons of fun. I love the atmosphere and the challenge of the game. There's still a lot for me to do in the game despite having over 200 hours in it now, such as winning a campaign as the Western Roman Empire, so I don't see myself getting bored with it anytime soon. On top of that, I have most (if not all) of the DLCs, so I expect to have fun with The Last Roman and Age of Charlemagne campaigns once I've gotten tired of the Grand Campaign. I don't feel like writing a book, so I'll just say that I highly recommend this game to anyone who either likes the Total War series or is a sucker for anything involving the Roman Empire or early Middle Ages.
