Fun to play with friends, I was playing with my brother non-stop making new strategies each time! I like the way they made the power-ups. It is like stratego mixed with board games like checkers. I used to play stratego when I was young, that brings me good memories back.
simple and fun
6/10 Limited-info Stratego-like TBS TLDR: It's a mix of chess/checkers with Stratego with a few more mechanics. While the idea of the game is interesting, it's dragged down by poor controls, too casual presentation and weak AI. Good: + the core idea of this game is somewhat Stratego-like. You have soldiers of 9 ranks. Higher rank kills lower rank. So, rank-9 kills all. But there is a "spy" soldier (rank 0) who is killed by everyone, yet it kills rank 9. Ranks of soldiers are initially unknown. So, you walk them around the board and guess about the ranks until the enemy flag (or yours) is destroyed + bombs (which only rank 2 can disarm) add an interesting twist, as well as 3 special abilities and random boost drops So-so: +/- this game was designed with mobile as primary platform in mind. Hence the low-poly 3D models, the saturated palette, the big heads, the funny voices and the overall attempt to be funny. However, on PC it all feels pretty annoying. I was wondering why this game has zero reviews - I guess the platform mismatch would explain it. I'd say, even just making a minimalstic 2D game with numbers on the board would be better for me as a hardcore gamer than the silly mobile kids-targeting stuff. After all, the game's mechanics are probably too complex for 6-10 year olds anyway +/- I may be too old already but I didn't like that violence and killing people is treated like something fun here. Well, many games do it, that's the mainstream +/- there are many board themes here (which you see in the video trailer) but only 1 is selectable at start. I guess you need to accumulate something in the campaign to unlock those eventually? Bad: - controls are just atrocious. All you can do is rotate the camera around the board and move it closer or father away from the board center. That's it. You can't move camera freely, can't look at the board from the top. Often I was clicking at wrong tiles or even at a wrong enemy simply because there was something visually overlapping (like, invisible collision boxes). I guess that's because the devs published on PC as an afterthought and didn't bother to optimize controls for the mouse/keyboard where there is just far more freedom and higher expectations - ranks of soldiers are presented as "Soldier3" strings above their heads. These look ugly and also don't immediately associate with the soldier's model. Instead, it should have been maybe just a big number, drawn on the top surface of the soldier's hat? The hats are big and round. Spy could be just "S". - deployment of soldiers is a pain because it's made for a touchscreen where not even mouse dragging is supported - the AI seems to not remember ranks of your solders, after they get revealed by successful attacks. E.g. I was walking around with a rank-9 soldier killing everyone, and they didn't even send a Spy at me. At the same time, it would make sense to keep ranks of enemy soldiers revealed forever once they've performed a successful attack or a bomb defuse. Because you'd have to keep this info in your memory anyway, and that's a wrong kind of challenge for a strategy game - would need more options. E.g. faster animations, or even instant animations, or replacing soldiers with just numbers It could turn out an interesting game. Yet the wrong decision to develop this for mobile and the later shortcuts in the PC port unfortunately muted the idea. It's still kinda playable. Though simply doesn't really belong as a paid game on Steam yet. A neutral-positive vote from me.
Nice game , its like killing the opposite team before they take our flag . high ranking official can kill any low ranking soldier. So think before moving.bombs can disrupt enemies. Spies can take down soldiers silently.Recommend to all if you like statergy games. 5 STARS
