Like many good puzzle games, the fundamentals are simple enough, and through the course of your journey you learn how to manipulate those fundamentals to overcome increasingly difficult situations. Each batch of 25 puzzles introduces a new mechanic and then explores all the different ways it can make your life difficult. It starts out easy enough as you learn to manipulate items while avoiding getting them stuck in inaccessable locations. Then mushrooms are introduced, then chompers, and fire arrows, and ice and lasers. And then combinations of all of them. Each new addition requires you to think about the procedure slightly different. It's a pretty good formula and by the time you get halfway through, I found the challenge really starts picking up. What compounds the difficulty is that in each level there's an optional objective of collecting the plums. Sure, you can solve the level by just collecting the carrots, but if you're buying a puzzle game, you're probably not in it to submit a new speedrun video. The optional objectives are way more difficult, and that's where the game really shines and where I found the most fun. And as a note to new players: Each level is perfectly solvable without using perks. One thing that felt off was the leaderboard system. It revolves around being able to complete each batch of 25 puzzles with a limited set of lives. And because you have lives (and the puzzles are challenging), the game throws you a bone by letting you purchase perks like extra lives, or bombs, and other helpers. Using these items reduces your score so in general a person running the leaderboards would try to avoid using them. But I personally didn't feel this system was a necessary mechanic. I'd much rather have a "pure puzzle mode" that lets you opt out of the leaderboard and disables the perks. Maybe it would even require you to solve the optional objective in the same run. The levels are great and I'd love to see the game assert a little confidence in itself and let a player enjoy them for their own merit. The art design is oddly extravagant. There's 125 puzzles and in between each one is a miniature cutscene. It's kind of crazy how much effort was put into it. That said, the default camera angle should *probably* be overhead. I don't really know how an indie game with this much polish has flown under the radar without anyone knowing about it. I hope the developer figures out a marketing strategy and keeps making new things. I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for more from them down the road.
Best game I’ve played in years. Trying to get all the achievements on this game is sooooooooo difficult! I only need two for completion, but they are seriously hard. This is a great game , but it really comes to life when you try the achievements.
I got this game because it was made by Irish developer and I wanted to support it. But I have to say its f’ing brilliant, the art style and environment are great and there are a few nods towards Irish culture in the Celtic world, I found really funny. But the actually puzzles and gameplay; what a breath of fresh air! None of this random evil candy crush BS, its pure logic that you can figure it out or maybe you can’t? Its starts of easy then gets fairly tricky, after about 5 hours and 3 restarts I finally got top score on puzzle 14 in Egyptian world. Great game and well done lads it’s nice to see Irish game developers making games of this standard.
I absolutely love this game, nothing better than coming home from a hard day at work and clearing your head out with a few puzzles. The art style and scenery is really relaxing and fun; but hidden underneath the soft exterior is a devilish hard and interesting game. Tooki is super cute and there are so many Awww! Moments; followed directly by Gerrrr! moments. Accidently walking into a Chomper will make anyone jump out of their skin! And there are puzzles I’ve realised I’ve been holding my breath for entire time, my god what an intense game it can be. Each time you fail it’s by your own blind stupidly and a little animation plays of poor Tooki getting it! and you can’t help but think I’m so sorry Tooki, hold on and I’ll get you to the next puzzle. I never been so hooked like this on any game before, this is a first for me and I love it
This is a surprisingly good game; I got it as a gift for Christmas and just started playing it now because I was bored of everything else in my library. The graphics and sound are top notch and it runs smoothly on my 580GTX. The gameplay is fast and furious at times, Retro-Modern if that’s a thing? The puzzles are really clever and some seem impossible at first; but then it just clicks and it’s so simple. Great fun 10/10 for me!
I bought this game at full price a couple of months ago, and I am still not finished it. It’s easily worth full price but with 50% discount that’s an absolute bargain. It’s very engaging and well developed. The puzzles are a bit hard for the younger kids but they love the colours and the bunny so I usually play a few levels ahead then replay them with the kids and help them out when they get stuck. Highly recommended for adults and recommended for kids under 8 only if you intend playing with them.
ig it was good
