A roguelike top down shooter, amusingly set in a kitchen full of murderous chefs. As the first few weak enemies fall, you soon start unlocking both generic damage/health/speed boosts, and more interesting food powers (fiery peppers, blueberry shields, etc). They're well needed to mow down the quickly growing hordes, not to mention the bosses! Cute toon graphics, jaunty (but not annoying) music and nonstop action make for a great time. I'm looking forward to funny new content for this cool game.
I spent waaaaaay too many hours playing this on its beta and I'm going to spend even more now that its released! I love the art style, it really works with the type of game it is and I really enjoy the different upgrades. Especially increasing bullet size... My goal is to get it so big that it one-shots EVERYTHING at once. Love the game, definitely recommend!
I fell in love with this game when the demo released for the June Next Fest. I’ve been lucky enough to be a beta tester along the way and let me tell you, this game has grown so much already and I can’t wait to see how it progresses. Too Many Cooks is up there with my favourite games in this roguelite genre. Each level is unique and the customisable difficulty settings really adds to the replayability of the game. Being able to decide exactly how difficult or easy I want my run to be is just awesome. Hordes of enemies with super low HP? Sure. Enemies kill me in one hit? Bring it on. Another major difference here is the tone of the game. My eyesight is really bad and games that are mostly darker colours like Vampire Survivors or 20 Minutes Til Dawn, though extremely fun!, honestly hurt my eyes to play. The bright palette for this game is a breath of fresh air. Plus, who can argue with food? There’s keybindings, achievements, cloud saves, it’s just overall really polished for an early access game. Can’t wait for updates with more levels! TL:DR 10/10 buy it and start firing food today!
Holy cow! What a fun fun fun game. Chef Hamsey? Hilarious! I totally recommend checking this game out.
For the price the game is really good. Different bosses have different mechanics and you can feel the difference between each character and weapon choice as well. Definitely worth the price and I don't know why more people aren't playing this game!
I dropped 5.1 hours over the course of a night when I decided to "just check the game out for a little bit". I asked a question about an auto fire option in the forums and got a reply super quick! (Current version is v0.3.0, it's coming in the next update.) This is one of those games where loosing doesn't feel bad. Earning currency for the upgrades so that you are even more powerful in the next run also feels good! RNG can sometimes say "Hey, your last run was too good, time to see what you can do with these choices you don't really want to use..." It was Yig (@xYigx) on Youtube's gameplay videos that convinced me I needed this game. It's been getting more content since I first decided to grab it and I don't regret my decision one bit! :)
Too Many Cooks is a really fun roguelike where you can get so powerful with so many upgrades that you can have a homing triple shot tomato machine gun of death with bullets larger than the enemies. Need I say more :)
Adorable roguelike shooter game! If you like this genre of game, you'll especially enjoy this one. The cooking themed upgrades are creative and unique. Mini bosses scattered throughout the enemy hoards make for a fun challenge. Starts off slow, but quickly intensifies with a whole crew of chefs trying to get you out of the kitchen. Use upgrades strategically to survive the kitchen onslaught. Great game to enjoy on a rainy afternoon. Just try not to get too hungry!
This game is a fun and challenging roughlite.
Here from the Dex livestream. Saw him playing and knew I would love it. An absolute blast if you're a fan of games like Bounty of One, Brotato or Vampire Survivors. An absolute bargain for the price.
