About
Turn your controller into a real musical instrument.
Tomo Jam is a rhythm game where every button press plays a real note. Jump into built-in songs right away or instantly import custom MIDI to expand the experience with your own music. Play solo, in local couch co-op, or online in jam sessions with players around the world.
There are no failure states. You can always finish the song, even if your score takes a hit, making Tomo Jam easy to enjoy as a beginner and rewarding to master over time.
In Tomo Jam, the chart gives you the structure, but your inputs shape how the performance feels.
Every press produces sound instantly, so your timing, accuracy, and recovery all become part of the music. Stay on-chart, handle mistakes, and take advantage of improv sections to make each run feel dynamic and alive.
Play alone, with up to 4 players locally, or online with up to 16 players in jam sessions.
Each player chooses their own instrument and difficulty independently, while unselectedd parts are handled by the backing arrangement so the song still comes together as a full performance. Whether you want focused solo play, local chaos with friends, or online sessions with players around the world, Tomo Jam supports all three.
Tomo Jam includes built-in music so you can jump in immediately, but one of its biggest strengths is custom MIDI support.
Import your own MIDI files and start playing almost instantly. Songs are mapped automatically, making it easy to explore everything from pack-in music to your own compositions and custom song libraries without manually charting every note.
This gives Tomo Jam massive replayability and lets you keep expanding the game with music you want to perform.
Tomo Jam is designed to be approachable without losing depth.
You can always complete a song, which makes it easy to learn, experiment, and enjoy the performance even when things get messy. At the same time, multiple difficulty modes let you gradually take on more of the music as your skill grows.
Novice keeps things simple and easy to pick up
Amateur adds more range while staying approachable
Pro demands stronger timing and control
Master opens up the most expressive and demanding layouts
Whether you want a relaxed jam or a serious score chase, Tomo Jam gives you room to play at your own level.
Tomo Jam is built around performance, not just strict repetition.
Some sections allow full improvisation, while fast ornamental phrases are transformed into playable note patterns that still feel musical on a controller. Misses do not stop the song, and recovery becomes part of the experience rather than the end of it.
That combination of structure and freedom gives Tomo Jam a different feel from traditional tap-along rhythm games.
Tomo Jam is a rhythm game for players who want more than a pass/fail chart.
With built-in music, instant custom MIDI support, multiple difficulty modes, local and online multiplayer, and a performance-driven design, Tomo Jam gives you a flexible and immensely satisfying rhythm playground.
Whether you want to improve your scores, explore custom songs, jam with friends, or just make a joyful mess of a track, Tomo Jam lets you play music your way.

Reviews
Infinite replayability.
The base game is fun, but the ability to import your own MIDI files is the real game-changer. I grabbed a huge collection of old PS1, PS2, and SNES soundtracks, dropped them in, and they worked perfectly. You aren't limited to the songs the developer picked; you can play literally anything you can find a MIDI for. It’s a massive nostalgia trip playing through the classics. Excited to see where the developer will take this. If you love rhythm games and have your own music collection, this is an instant recommend.
just started playing and i am blown away by the simple complexity of this game! the game is a fantastic rhythm game to begin with - using the controller buttons as a musical scale is very creative in my opinion - but where it really shines is the ability to add custom music. think of a song, any song (as long as you can find a midi file for it) - now put the file into the game and play it! individual instruments separated, roughly accurate difficulty auto-assigned to each part, and it really does feel like you're Actually Playing your instrument because you replace the midi part you are playing - you can hear all the notes you play, especially mistakes. do yourself a favor if you like rhythm games and pick this up (and also please make midis and contribute to the community)!
Infinite Guitar Hero
"Tomo Jam!" lets you (and friends!) play basically any instrument from any MIDI file as a guitar hero-esque game without the hassle of having to make custom tracks. The game automatically creates the notes and sequences for the tracks and provides lots of options for different difficulty levels, increasing/decreasing the tempo, etc. As a huge fan of the older guitar hero games, I have really enjoyed playing through some of my favorite music from older video games and getting up the skills to play them on the harder difficulties.
Tomo Jam! is a very nice game with a great concept. It's a fun, engaging rhythm experience with a ton of potential. The devs are fully committed to supporting and enhancing the game, and they move fast getting feedback implemented.
Immediately addictive, love the different instruments and learning to play!
I threw my guitar and keyboard in the trash after playing this game! You can serenade your guest with MIDI you put in yourself, and play wonderful music using the game controller of your choice to emulate that instrument, who needs a Stratocaster. Big house party potential similar to the old Rock Band days, I haven't had such a blast on a game since playing Phantom Hunter. Don't be shy, pull the trigger on getting this game!
Really fun game! Highly recommend playing this with a controller!
Fun indie Rhythm game that can get really complex really quick depending on your song choice and difficulty level. The retro pixel art graphics are a fun, nostalgic twist. I really enjoyed the ability to import any midi songs. This also pulls on that nostalgia as I pulled in a lot of old SNES game music when I was playing. (beware, they're harder than you think.) There have been a number of significant updates since the game was originally shared with me. The devs are fully committed to supporting and enhancing the game. Always a good sign to see devs that are receptive to feedback and move fast getting that feedback implemented. Rhythm games aren't typically my thing though I enjoyed myself. If you're a fan of rhythm and retro aesthetic, it's definitely a recommend. Especially for the price point.
A very big nostalgia hit for me with not only the fun retro design, but the ability to play this in a group setting with friends reminded me of the times I'd play other big rhythm games at get togethers. What's great is that even as someone who is absolutely terrible at these types of games, Tomo Jam is tailored for so many different types of players that it was easy for me to pick up and immediately have a great time!
