Very Average VR game with laughable voice acting and terrible gameplay, some good ideas just not the talent or money to make it a worthwhile game. Way overpriced and only but if under a dollar and enjoy terrible VR games.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
This is a narrative driven VR escape room / puzzle game experience in a Tomb Raider inspired ancient Chinese tomb setting. The whole experience took me almost 4 hours to complete, however, I got stuck on one puzzle which probably added an extra hour. The game could probably be finished in less than an hour if you know what you're doing (30 minutes if you already finished the game and just want to speedrun). I expect most people will finish in 2-3 hours. The graphics are not the best, but there are lots of details in the world. These are complete set pieces. In essence, it's all one giant puzzle versus being "rooms." In fact, I couldn't tell you exactly how many rooms there are because it all felt like one story experience. I think there were 8-9 rooms depending on how you count a room (although 3 were connected, so you might see it as only 5 rooms). You're communicating with a professor as you explore the cave at the start of the game. But then ... something happens :) Each of the rooms has interesting, logical puzzles. There is also combat mixed in. You will be shooting the likes of giant rats, skeletons, statues, snakes, and alligator/dragons (see photo). You have a tool belt which consists of a flashlight, handgun, lighter, and a shovel. I never used the shovel although I think maybe it was meant for the rats. You also have a bag to carry puzzle items. One of the weird things is that I think you collect coins (or at least they looked like ancient coins, who knows), but nothing was ever done with these collectibles. Maybe it was an achievement thing. The other odd thing was the bag. It was very clunky to use and usually got in the way. My biggest complaint about the game is that it was too dark in certain areas. It does not help that you can light lamps / lanterns along the way but they go out within a few minutes. Because it was so dark I missed an important clue of how to finish one of the earliest puzzles. See the community discussion for my call for help. I had actually tried the solution, but in a different place than what was required. It was so dark that I didn't see the correct location, which looked obvious after closer inspection and with the appropriate lighting. My other big complaint is that somehow I lost a puzzle piece along the way and had to restart. I'm not sure about the checkpoints in the game, but I basically re-started from almost the beginning after losing the puzzle piece (vanished into thin air). Because I'm not sure about the realiability of checkpoints or saving your progress, I recommend putting away 3 hours to finish the game in one playthrough. Even given the above pet peeves about the game, I immensely enjoyed my playthrough. This was a very fun, exploration of a hidden, magical tomb full of secrets. For the normal price of $8, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck. This is easily one of the best escape rooms experiences, as long as the game can be patched up it would be right up there among the best. Ein schön gemachtes VR Horror Abenteuer mit einigen kleineren Macken. Kaum Speicherpunkte, Steuerung etwas hakelig, aber nette Rätsel, gruselige Atmosphäre und akzeptable Grafik. Meine Kuratorseite: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/30155555 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-I_EJdX1Y0M
Just another crap low-budget indie developed VR game. Environments are drab, way too dark, and made with low polygon models. You constantly have to keep relighting lanterns with your lighter over and over again because they go out quick, which gets really tedious. There are also constant attacks from rats that seem to keep respawning. The voice acting is laughable and shooting the pistol feels very outdated and arcade-like. Objects needed to continue are too well hidden in the dark, which can just frustrate the player. I cannot recommend this game at all.
I like the game so far. I enjoy the ability to move around a VR space looking for clues to progress further. However, it's rather glitchy. I lost a sword on one playthrough. But, when I reloaded it, even though the sword was back, another piece was no longer retrievable. Both were in the same coffin. Obviously, other people have gotten the game to work for them. So, it's just a matter of the game reloading for me with all the puzzles pieces so that I can progress.
It may not be the best art in the world, and it's a little rough around the edges, but it's original work with some good ideas. I enjoyed going in and checking things out. I'll need to come back in a bit to finish things up.
