Vertikal? Bei mir geht es zumindest steil bergauf. Naja, zumindest die Anzahl meiner Reviews.

Tobe’s Vertical Adventure is a charming indie platformer that embraces the spirit of classic 16-bit games while introducing a unique gameplay structure centered on vertical exploration. Developed and published by Secret Base, the game follows the energetic adventurer Tobe and his treasure-hunting companion Nana as they journey through a series of dangerous caverns in search of riches. Although the premise is simple and lighthearted, it provides enough motivation to support an adventure focused primarily on platforming, collectibles, and exploration. What immediately separates Tobe’s Vertical Adventure from many traditional platformers is its emphasis on descending and climbing through large vertical stages. Each level tasks players with navigating downward through caves and hazardous environments to locate hidden treasure. Once the treasure is secured, the objective changes dramatically as players must race back to the surface before danger catches up with them. This two-part structure creates a satisfying rhythm, blending careful exploration with tense escape sequences. The design encourages players to memorize routes, collect valuables, and think strategically about how much time they spend searching every corner of a stage. The gameplay itself is straightforward yet enjoyable. Tight platforming mechanics allow players to jump across gaps, avoid traps, and reach hidden areas scattered throughout the levels. The game offers two playable characters, each with distinct abilities that affect how they approach challenges. Tobe’s agility and wall-climbing skills make him ideal for players who enjoy speed and precision, while Nana’s enhanced jumping ability provides a more forgiving and flexible experience. These differences are subtle but meaningful enough to encourage experimentation and replayability. Collecting treasure is only one aspect of the adventure. The game rewards curiosity by hiding gems, animals, and other bonuses throughout its stages. Searching for every collectible adds depth to the experience and gives completionists plenty of reasons to revisit levels. Rescuing animals and uncovering hidden rewards contribute to progression while also reinforcing the sense of exploration that lies at the heart of the game. Rather than simply rushing toward the finish, players are constantly tempted to take risks in pursuit of additional rewards. Visually, the game captures the nostalgic appeal of retro platformers exceptionally well. The pixel art is colorful, expressive, and full of personality. Each environment features its own theme, helping the adventure maintain visual variety despite its relatively compact scope. Character animations are lively, and the overall presentation conveys a cheerful atmosphere that remains appealing from beginning to end. The retro-inspired soundtrack complements the visuals perfectly, delivering upbeat melodies that enhance the sense of adventure without becoming repetitive. One of the game's strongest features is its local cooperative mode. Playing alongside a friend transforms the experience into a more dynamic and entertaining adventure. Cooperative play allows players to coordinate movement, tackle challenges together, and enjoy the frantic escape sequences as a team. While the single-player mode is enjoyable on its own, cooperative gameplay often provides the most memorable moments and significantly increases the game's replay value. The game’s biggest weakness is its relatively short length. Skilled players can complete the main adventure within a few hours, and while collectibles and alternate character choices provide reasons to return, some players may wish there were more stages and challenges to conquer. Additionally, the mechanics remain fairly consistent throughout the campaign, meaning the game rarely surprises players with major innovations or dramatic gameplay twists. However, what it lacks in ambition, it makes up for with polish and charm. Ultimately, Tobe’s Vertical Adventure succeeds by focusing on what matters most: fun platforming, rewarding exploration, and a distinctive level structure that keeps players engaged. It does not attempt to reinvent the genre, but it delivers a polished and enjoyable experience that captures the magic of classic platforming adventures. Fans of retro-inspired games, cooperative experiences, and collectible-driven exploration will find plenty to appreciate. Even years after its release, it remains an entertaining example of how simple ideas executed well can create a memorable adventure. Rating: 6/10
excelente platformer old school, desafio no ponto e ótimo modo multiplayer.
TVA has decent level design and the mechanics are sound but that's about all it has going for it. Jumping always feels a bit off. Having to climb back to the top with a time limit is really annoying. Playing with a controller feels wrong. I dislike the "building blocks" visual style. Levels are quite short, i think they take about 3-4 minutes to complete. The music is the worst part, it's a short loop that gave me a headache.
Looks nice, but controls like a brick being tossed haphazardly through the tundra.
2d platform kontroller zayıf eğlenceli değil
Tags: Platformer Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Xbox360 pad not working out of box. Terrible news for a platformer. Audiovisually bland. Vertical Drop Heroes HD has better execution. Washed out bland assets, repetitive music on loop. Control scheme is insanity: WASD JKL. Walljumping and other parkour is incredibly clunky. Tileset has a weird white filter on top of everything making it look washed out and bland. Music loops too much, shame too because, just like the art direction, it could have been going places. There are detailed animations for vinegrabbing, sliding around, picking up momentum... its not prince of persia levels but still solid. But those few good points feel more of an exception than a rule. Because of the clunky controls I did not check for custom resolutions.
