The game has a lot of character and personality, its surreal art style complements the story, at times it feels like you're playing an indie film, the writing pulls you in with its dark comedy, it's one of those stories where it's difficult to tell what's real and not. The soundtrack is fantastic and I'm definitely adding some of the tracks to my playlist Unfortunately the gameplay doesn't live up to the presentation, movement often feels unresponsive and I frequently got stuck on something. Even while trying to shoot I'd somehow end up shooting a chair or something else. Overall the gameplay feels slow, especially compared to Hotline Miami, Otxo or Ruiner The level design is another weak point, levels are randomly generated which makes encounters feel less strategic and most of the time you rely on cheesy tactics rather than engaging with the combat system. On top of that every level follows the same pattern, after clearing the floor game spawns multiple waves of enemies that immediately know your location, this is really frustrating. One or two hit deaths can be exciting but only when the controls, combat and level design are extremely polished while here feels too janky to fully support that kind of gameplay The abilities also don't help, you can only use the chosen ability once per level, as I stated game throws multiple waves of enemies at you after you've dealt with the first ones and since you never know how many waves are coming, it's difficult to decide the right time to use your ability and in many cases you end up saving them for nothing. A system with a cooldown would make abilities far more useful and encourage players to use them instead of hoarding them and make gameplay more aggressive
Putting a 15€ price tag on a 2hr game is a statement, not a good one, but it is one. Overall the Story is fine, you kinda need to like this weird druggy perspective, reading the true events behind what the mind is bending them into. Gameplay wise, i didn't like the Game. This pseudo 3D does not work at all, you can't judge properly what objects block/kill you and what not. A staircase going down? = normal ground. Little holes in a plattform = your death. Beer kegs stacked on top = light wall blocking your way. Chairs and tables = sometimes block shots, sometimes just for show. With the Game being so colourfull you can't really judge what is what way to often, making the level desigin more annoying then it has to be. The Enemys also suck hard, all of them just rush you no matter what weapon they have. Hitboxes from enemys and yourself are also not well made. The whole "here are muliple seeds stick" is also more lazy then original. Good level desgin outweighs quantity, besides that i only used different seeds on accident never on purpose. (why try a level for 2min, just to change the whole structure?) The powers you get are not needed and don't fit the Game (Story wise they do, but not Gameplay wise). Finishing this up, the Game is an experience mostly a meh one. In a sale you could think about getting it for 3-5€, but thats it. Would like to review this more neutral then bad, but after all the bad points overweigh.
Игрушка с просто ахуевшим напором в плане геймплея и музыки, плюс ко всему ощущается буквально как фильм на два с половиной часа
Hotline Miami gibi ama bol Pudra Şekerli .
This game feels like "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and Hotline Miami had a baby in somekind of Egyptian Las Vegas, and It was all directed by Quentin Tarantino. Short lived, but.enjoyable. I got It on sale, but I think the price is too high for such a short game.
Jackal is a stylish and adrenaline-fueled top-down action game that fully embraces relentless violence, high-speed combat, and a gritty criminal narrative set against the neon glow of 1970s Las Vegas. Developed and published by Transhuman Design, the game casts players as a chemically enhanced assassin tasked with dismantling powerful crime syndicates through sheer force and ruthless efficiency. Rather than focusing on stealth or careful planning, Jackal thrives on constant momentum, encouraging players to charge into dangerous situations with confidence while leaving destruction in their wake. Its retro-inspired presentation, psychedelic atmosphere, and cinematic influences immediately establish a unique personality that stands apart from many modern action titles. Combat serves as the heart of the experience, delivering fast, brutal encounters where nearly everything in the environment can become a weapon. Firearms certainly play an important role, but they are only part of a much larger arsenal. Furniture, glass bottles, melee weapons, and environmental hazards can all be used creatively to eliminate enemies, giving every encounter an unpredictable edge. The game rewards improvisation instead of repetitive tactics, constantly encouraging players to adapt to changing circumstances. Since ammunition is limited and reloading interrupts the action, switching between weapons and using surroundings effectively becomes essential for survival. This design keeps the pacing consistently intense while making every room feel like a deadly puzzle solved through speed, creativity, and controlled aggression. Replayability is another major strength thanks to procedural room generation, randomized encounters, unlockable abilities, and various gameplay modifiers that significantly alter each run. Instead of repeating identical missions, players are challenged by fresh layouts, different enemy combinations, and opportunities to experiment with powerful enhancements earned throughout progression. The inclusion of drug-induced superhuman abilities further expands combat possibilities, allowing players to temporarily gain extraordinary advantages that make already explosive firefights even more chaotic. These systems encourage repeated playthroughs while rewarding mastery and experimentation rather than simple memorization. The game's setting contributes greatly to its appeal. Rather than presenting a realistic interpretation of Las Vegas, Jackal delivers a stylized vision where casinos, organized crime, psychedelic hallucinations, and surreal storytelling merge into one unforgettable world. The campaign follows a hitman accompanied by a mysterious supernatural companion as they navigate increasingly bizarre situations that blur reality with chemically altered perceptions. This unusual narrative direction complements the game's over-the-top violence instead of distracting from it, creating an experience that feels equally inspired by classic crime films, exploitation cinema, and surreal psychological thrillers. The visual style reinforces this identity with colorful lighting, retro aesthetics, and exaggerated effects that transform every firefight into a cinematic spectacle. Jackal clearly wears its inspirations proudly, drawing influence from classic top-down shooters while injecting its own personality through environmental interaction and psychedelic storytelling. The result is a game that feels familiar enough for fans of the genre while offering enough unique mechanics and artistic flair to establish its own identity. The soundtrack and sound design further strengthen the presentation, providing energetic music and impactful audio effects that heighten the tension during combat. Combined with responsive controls and satisfying animations, every successful encounter feels rewarding and exhilarating. The game's challenging difficulty ensures that players cannot rely solely on quick reflexes. Enemies attack aggressively, mistakes are punished swiftly, and success depends on understanding movement, positioning, weapon management, and environmental opportunities. While newcomers may initially struggle with the unforgiving pace, perseverance is rewarded as players gradually master the mechanics and discover increasingly effective ways to approach each encounter. This balance between challenge and empowerment gives Jackal a satisfying gameplay loop that remains engaging across multiple sessions. Although the game contains graphic violence, heavy gore, drug references, and mature themes, these elements are presented through an exaggerated and stylized lens rather than realistic simulation. Its unapologetically excessive tone fits naturally within the game's surreal world, making the brutality feel like part of its artistic identity instead of simple shock value. Players seeking a grounded crime drama may find its approach too outrageous, but those who appreciate stylized action and over-the-top spectacle will likely find it highly entertaining. Overall, Jackal succeeds by committing completely to its vision. Its fast-paced combat, highly interactive environments, procedural design, memorable setting, and distinctive visual style combine to create a thrilling action experience that rarely loses momentum. While its uncompromising difficulty and mature content may not appeal to every player, fans of intense arcade-style shooters and stylish crime-inspired action games will discover a rewarding experience packed with creativity and replay value.
