Actually I had a jolly good time playing this, much more than I thought. Infact I have had more play time on this than the recently launched Film Maker Tycoon at 1/5th of the price! Ideally the game could be expanded to include more content making it more playable and interesting because as it stands it is relatively easy to succeed. If the theme appeals and your into Tycoon style games it is a fair price for what it is, there is so much room for growth on this game lets hope the developer expands it further.
This is a decent movie business game. It is pretty detailed as you pick your director, cast, SFX company and then you get to pick how good the quality is and if you want shots on location or on a sound stage, Making deals to get co-funding or a good actor or director is pretty good too especially when you're just starting out. The cons of the game for me it appears the game slows when the money flows and loading and saving games takes forever but don't worry if the game doesn't appear to respond because it will snap out of it.
There are some relatively minor bugs and the interface is very simple, but the game is addictive and enjoyable to play. I'll get my money's worth out of it before I'm done, and you likely will too. Tinseltown Tycoon is like Hollywood Mogul if you ever played that, except you can't customize your movies and you can't list all of the actors, whatever, in the database and select one from the entire list for a film your making. Instead you get a list of 5 applicants for a movie role and how good they are depends on your reputation, movie budget, and the skill of the casting director. However, there is a database of actors and everything being maintained, since you'll see the same names and the same skills come up as you recruit - it's just that that data isn't readily visible. It's also pretty easy. There was one sticky period where I was making my first large movie and I got a lot of unlucky random events, but other than that I've never felt like I was in any danger of losing the game. Anyway, if you liked Hollywood Mogul then you'll like this. It's not too hardcore, just a way to just chill out and pass some time.
