Tinboy is a difficult game, both to beat and to judge. Part of this is on me. I was struggling at the beginning to figure out how to use the arrows properly and ended up using walkthroughs for at least a third of the levels. Though I gave up on a lot of these too quickly for the sake of time, once I got a feel for the mechanics, I adjusted and had a lot of fun beating several of these challenges. Still, the game’s very rough. The visuals are not just boring to look at, they are downright confusing. There are fans, vents, and hanging ceiling tiles that look like they should either affect movement or be indicators of where to stand or shoot at, but they just seem to be there so that the background doesn’t look empty, and they even fail at that due to how much they stick out. As for the puzzles, while I enjoyed many of them and take responsibility for failing others, there were several that required you to stand on a perfect spot, rely on a very unnatural carom for the arrow, or swing in a specific arc with a specific length of rope. The game’s physics are functional, but they are very loose and unintuitive, with cubes sometimes getting stuck, flying in wild directions and occasionally clipping through walls. The physics are not completely unpredictable, but I never got a good feel for them. Taking note of the placement of interactables in each level will usually help you find the solution, but when the loose physics combine with some of the precision requirements, it can become hard to read when you’re on the right track through trial and error. I think since the majority of the puzzles were fun to solve, I’d say go ahead and grab this when it’s on sale for a buck, but only if you’re up for the challenge. For something so bare bones, there are just enough clever puzzles that it barely makes the grade, though it would probably be a C instead of an A.

janky flashgame that costs £4 but is barely controllable. some of the puzzles are probably fine but you cant actually get to them bc the character just doesnt do what you want him to do. shame cos it could be cute
This game belongs in the lowest level of hell buried in a even deeper pit.

An unfun, ineffectively developed puzzle-platformer that lacks much refinement and requires the entire control/physics scheme to be rewritten from scratch in order to be enjoyable. Positive: - The titular protagonist is likable and exhibits a cute gait while still existing as a robotic entity with mechanical mannerisms. With that said, it is a shame that their likeness has been wasted in such an unsatisfactory game. Neutral: - The audiovisual presentation is very crude. Graphical fidelity is entirely low, sound effects and music are quite rudimentary, and the menus appear like they might have been designed using Microsoft Paint or similar software. Everything looks and feels unpolished or amateurish. Negative: - While there are display options for screen resolution, there is no way to restrict the frame rate from inside the game, which causes the frame rate to go into the thousands. The only method to prevent this from happening is by changing the video card settings using third-party driver software. - Some of the physics associated with certain mechanics simply do not work. Swinging on a rope, for instance, does not respond to weight shifting as it naturally should, which prevents the playable character from reaching platforms by sensibly intuitive means. - Solid objects will often clip through likewise solid structures without altering normal physical interactions in any perceivable fashion. A rope will go through a wall as if both were not made of matter. - Levels' design and inner workings are not thoughtfully presented to the player in a manner that kinetic information is intellectually gathered and processed. Collectibles are arranged through the levels in juxtaposition to climbable environmental blocks, but their relationship is not clearly defined in terms of actionable physics. As a recurring consequence, using the playable character's tools and abilities is dependent on endless trial and error attempts that become tedious and annoying. Overall rating: 1.5/5.0

Me ha sorprendido gratamente, me parece entretenido.
