Time Ramesside (A New Reckoning) is an indie action-adventure title created and published by Panzer Gaming Studios. The game attempts to blend first-person action, survival elements, and a narrative centered on scientific discovery and its moral consequences. Built as a small independent project, it aims to deliver a dark and dramatic experience in which the player uncovers a mysterious conspiracy while struggling to survive in hostile environments. Although its ambitions stretch across several genres, the game ultimately presents a relatively straightforward adventure focused on exploration, combat, and gradually revealing the story behind the protagonist’s predicament. The narrative revolves around Mark Faroh, a scientist whose research has led to the discovery of a revolutionary energy extraction method derived from biological life forms. At first glance, the breakthrough promises to change the world by offering a new source of energy that could solve global resource problems. However, as the technology begins attracting attention from powerful and morally questionable forces, the situation spirals into chaos. Mark soon discovers that his research may have unleashed consequences far beyond his control. The story begins with him waking up imprisoned in a mysterious facility with little understanding of how he got there or why his life has fallen apart. As Mark struggles to escape captivity, fragments of the truth begin to surface. The technology he developed has sparked greed, corruption, and violence among those seeking to control its potential. The narrative attempts to explore themes of ambition, responsibility, and the dangers of scientific progress when placed in the wrong hands. Through scattered notes, environmental clues, and encounters with enemies, players gradually piece together the events that led to Mark’s downfall and the broader catastrophe that now surrounds him. Gameplay unfolds primarily from a first-person perspective, placing the player directly in the role of the protagonist. Exploration plays a central role as Mark moves through a series of dark environments including industrial facilities, confined corridors, and dangerous outdoor areas. Players must search for items, navigate unfamiliar locations, and defend themselves against hostile threats encountered along the way. The design attempts to create a tense atmosphere where survival depends on careful movement and quick reactions. Combat encounters occur throughout the journey as Mark confronts enemies that stand between him and his escape. Players use weapons and basic combat abilities to defeat these threats while managing limited resources. Although the game carries elements of role-playing progression, its mechanics remain relatively simple compared to larger RPG titles. Instead of complex character builds or deep skill systems, the gameplay focuses on straightforward action combined with exploration and survival. The environments in Time Ramesside are designed to reinforce the bleak tone of the story. Industrial settings and abandoned facilities dominate much of the game’s world, giving the impression that something has gone terribly wrong in the places Mark explores. Dim lighting, confined spaces, and unsettling surroundings help create a sense of danger and uncertainty. While the level design is not especially expansive, it attempts to guide players through a series of interconnected areas where clues about the story gradually appear. Visually, the game reflects its independent development origins. The graphics rely on relatively simple models and textures, focusing more on functionality than visual spectacle. Character animations and environmental details are basic, but they succeed in presenting the world clearly enough for exploration and combat. While the visual presentation cannot compete with larger modern titles, it still establishes the dark and uneasy atmosphere needed for the narrative. The sound design supports this atmosphere through ambient effects and subdued background music. Environmental sounds such as machinery, footsteps, and distant noises help reinforce the feeling of isolation as the protagonist moves through hostile areas. Music tracks occasionally appear during key moments to heighten tension or emphasize dramatic developments in the story. Although the audio design is minimal, it contributes to the overall mood of the game. Despite its intriguing concept, the game struggles with several design limitations. The combat mechanics can feel somewhat clunky, and enemy encounters often lack the depth expected from modern action games. Controls may occasionally feel unpolished, and some parts of the narrative are not clearly communicated, making the story difficult to follow at times. These issues highlight the challenges faced by small development teams attempting to create ambitious projects with limited resources. Another drawback is the overall pacing of the experience. While the story introduces interesting ideas about scientific ethics and technological power, it sometimes fails to fully develop those themes. Players may find themselves focusing more on navigating environments and dealing with combat encounters than on engaging with the narrative itself. As a result, the philosophical concepts hinted at in the story never quite reach their full potential. Nevertheless, Time Ramesside (A New Reckoning) demonstrates the creative ambition often found in independent game development. The premise of a scientist confronting the consequences of his own discovery offers an intriguing foundation for storytelling. Even though the execution falls short in several areas, the game still reflects the developers’ attempt to explore darker themes and combine multiple gameplay styles within a single experience. Overall, Time Ramesside (A New Reckoning) is an ambitious but uneven indie project that tries to merge science-fiction storytelling with action and survival gameplay. While its limited polish and mechanical simplicity prevent it from standing alongside more refined titles in the genre, the concept behind the story and its dark tone may still appeal to players curious about unusual indie experiments. I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
Doors and Walls just Bleed...
