It's a fantastic VR experience that truly immerses you into a new world and it's perfect exercise for workout. The graphics are good, and cutting wood is satysfying. I highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a fun and exciting VR arcade game.

Timberman VR, developed by GameFormatic S.A. and published by PlayWay S.A., brings the addictive arcade gameplay of the original Timberman into the immersive realm of virtual reality. This transition from a 2D mobile classic to a fully three-dimensional experience reimagines the simple yet challenging concept of chopping down trees while dodging dangerous branches. Released in August 2022, Timberman VR offers a fresh way to engage with this familiar gameplay, combining physical motion with quick reflexes in a vibrant, cartoonish environment that appeals to both casual players and VR enthusiasts looking for something lighthearted and accessible. At its core, the gameplay of Timberman VR revolves around chopping down trees as quickly and safely as possible. Players wield virtual axes, machetes, hammers, and other unique tools that each bring their own feel and rhythm to the chopping action. Using motion controllers, you physically swing at the tree while avoiding branches that can abruptly end your run. The game features four distinct environments—Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Halloween—that each provide different aesthetics and minor gameplay twists. Campaign mode offers a series of 15 levels that gradually ramp up the difficulty, while the arcade mode invites endless play, testing how long players can survive against ever-increasing challenges. An in-game shop unlocks additional tools like the Stone Age Axe, Tomahawk, Bat, and themed items such as Viking Machete and Thor’s Hammer, adding a satisfying layer of customization and incentive for replay. Visually, Timberman VR adopts a colorful, stylized art style that perfectly complements the fast-paced and playful tone of the game. The cartoonish design ensures the experience remains light and fun rather than intense or grim, which is refreshing in a VR landscape that can often lean toward more serious or immersive simulations. The four diverse maps feature well-crafted environments filled with vibrant colors and atmospheric details that help keep the game visually interesting. This, combined with fluid animations and responsive sound effects, creates an immersive experience that feels engaging without overwhelming new players. Despite its many strengths, Timberman VR is not without its limitations. The gameplay, by its very nature, can become repetitive over extended play sessions, as the core loop revolves around the same chopping and dodging mechanic with relatively little variation. Some players have also reported issues with motion controls, citing occasional unresponsiveness or awkward detection of swings, which can be frustrating during moments that demand precision. While the inclusion of different axes and maps adds some diversity, the overall gameplay structure remains quite simple and may not satisfy players looking for deeper mechanics or more variety. Technical hiccups, such as minor tracking glitches or occasional frame rate drops, have been noted, but these issues generally don’t detract significantly from the experience. The game’s accessibility and straightforward controls help smooth over these rough patches, allowing most players to quickly get into the rhythm of chopping and dodging. The addition of multiplayer or cooperative features is notably absent, which could have expanded the game’s appeal and longevity, but the solo experience remains solid enough to hold attention for casual sessions. Overall, Timberman VR manages to successfully translate a beloved classic into an engaging VR format. It shines through its simplicity, making it an ideal pick-up-and-play title for newcomers to VR or those seeking a light, fun challenge without a steep learning curve. The combination of colorful, lively visuals, easy-to-grasp controls, and a satisfying sense of progression through unlocking new tools ensures the game has a consistent appeal. While it may not offer groundbreaking innovation or long-term depth, Timberman VR provides a highly enjoyable, physically active experience that captures the charm of the original game while adding the unique excitement of virtual reality immersion. For anyone looking for a quick, entertaining VR game that blends physical movement with reflex-based gameplay, Timberman VR is well worth exploring. Rating: 7/10
Seems to have a lot of polish for such a cheap game. I say it is worth it on sale for sure and if you think the gameplay looks enticing, $8 isn't hard to manage for full price.
