미안.. 영어+오토메+비주얼노벨 게임은 도저히 못하겟다
I've read and enjoyed a fair few Ebihime VNs by this point, but I can't really recommend this one. Store page says it's a medieval fantasy but there's nothing medieval about it -- certainly not the character art nor the backgrounds. The worldbuilding is quite generic, and better background art could have done a lot of the heavylifting in terms of making the world feel real. The use of photos for backgrounds with extremely stylised sprites is a visually unpleasant combination in my opinion, particularly since no effort was made to remove obviously modern touches from the backgrounds. It's very anime inspired -- you can see it in the character tropes, behaviour, and even the sound effects used in their speech. With how disjointed this visual novel was, it just added another layer of confusion to a rather jumbled mixture of elements. I did like how different routes revealed different bits of information about the events in the first part of the game. I found some of the characters obnoxious, and the dialogue tedious at times. All in all, this one's kind of a miss for me.
This game was one of the first visual novels on my Steam wishlist. Despite blurred photos as backgrounds (in a paid-for game!) the art looked good and the description promised a lot of fun: plenty of CGs and reading. I was reading it for two hours. Guess how many interesting things happened in-game during that time? Literally none. Generally I'm okay with slice-of-life, but in this game nothing was going anywhere or had meaning. I wanted to give it one more chance and decided to read it later. And then I realised I didn't want to get back to it. It's so bland and boring it's painful.
Pls dont be like me and dont waste your time and money on this game.
米中文难说爱,啥时候中文啥时候大拇指。chinese need.
I really enjoyed this game, much more than I expected. I don't usually play visual novels with this type of art style, and because of it, I thought it would be more of a cute, light-hearted story. I was wrong; the backgrounds, the music, are subdued in a way that matches the story because it touches on dark themes at times. They do a great job of bringing you into this world, this tiny village in the middle of nowhere. The character sprites, though they are stylized, are very expressive. The story flows well, and I felt the characters themselves were written in a more genuine way, a little less like tropes and more like real people. Especially the main character; she is a very sweet girl, but not in an artificial, blank slate way. I was happy to see this type of character being represented so well, I really sympathized with her. Overall, I was able to immerse myself in this game, and I had a great time. I won't say I liked all the romantic routes, but I'm still glad I played it, especially Valerian's route.
The art is good, the writing is good, the characters are fun... It's a good quality VN overall. If you like otome games and don't mind pure and sweet romance without a smutty side, then this is great for you. But, if you're like me and enjoy branching routes and end up infatuated by the amazing female side characters (shy angels, feisty coworkers, cute slime girls, and more), I'd suggest skipping this one and buying one of ebihime's other games, like Strawberry Vinegar or The Way We All Go. It's not a game that appeals to everyone, but for its target audience, it's a great and endearing read.
A short little VN that uses lots of stock photos, but I feel it helps pull you into focusing more onto the plot and the characters, I would say give it a try.
