Vanilla version of the game
In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle.
The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.
Make life-and-death decisions driven by your conscience. Try to protect everybody from your shelter or sacrifice some of them for longer-term survival. During war, there are no good or bad decisions; there is only survival. The sooner you realize that, the better.

Reviews
It's got great heartfelt story, you feel for the characters. I like a harder start with less people, which fails more but is way more rewarding. Nice art style that doesn't hurt the eyes after long sessions. Can be hard, some cant handle the losses.
被纳入教材的佳作 在战争之下,普通人只会命如草芥! 战时难民剧情极具冲击力,小事件频发持续制造心理压力,压抑感充斥游戏。把战争的代价真实克制的表现了出来。

отлично
This is one of the most immersive and emotionally impactful survival games I've played. Rather than focusing on soldiers and battles, it presents war through the eyes of civilians struggling to survive, which gives the experience a unique and refreshing perspective. The setting is bleak but compelling, and the characters feel human as they wrestle with difficult moral choices and their consequences. The game's greatest strength is how well it handles those choices. Decisions that solve immediate problems often come at a personal cost. Stealing food or medicine from vulnerable people may help your group survive another day, but the guilt can push characters into depression and create new challenges later. Few games make survival feel so morally complicated. The game offers a substantial challenge, especially for new players learning its systems and events. However, the lack of difficulty settings means that experienced players may eventually find the challenge diminishing as they become familiar with optimal strategies. Thankfully, reaching that point takes considerable time, and the game remains engaging throughout the learning process. One annoyance is the pacing. There is no option to significantly accelerate time, which can make routine tasks feel tedious. Watching a character slowly clear rubble or haul materials across an area can occasionally test your patience, particularly when a simple mistake—like forgetting a shovel—turns a short task into several minutes of waiting. Exploration and scavenging remain consistently interesting. Every location presents new opportunities and risks, and limited carrying capacity forces difficult decisions about what to bring back home. Between hunger, illness, cold weather, hostile survivors, and bandits, there is never enough room for everything you need. Those constant trade-offs create a tense and rewarding survival experience. Overall, this is a thoughtful and atmospheric survival game that excels at portraying the human cost of war. Its moral dilemmas, immersive setting, and meaningful decision-making leave a lasting impression long after the final day has passed.
