About
The Woods is a solo and online co-op survival-crafting game set on a mysterious stylized forest island. Start with nothing, gather enough food and water to last the night, build a shelter, and turn a fragile camp into a defensible base.
Construct shelters, campfires, storage, fences, traps, and defensive structures as wildlife and hostile creatures threaten your base.
Hunt, fish, cook, collect water, craft weapons, and plan each journey before hunger, thirst, weather, or enemies catch you out.
Search forests, beaches, rivers, caves, and landmarks for resources, secrets, and a possible way off the island.
Turn raw resources into the gear you need to explore farther, fight back, and keep your camp alive.
Survive alone or team up with friends to divide building, hunting, gathering, crafting, and defense.

This game is amazing! I definitely recommend this for other people as it is very addictive and fun to play with a large variety of things to do and a huge map. I would love to see how far this game will get.
For a game in Early Access, this game is not that bad at all. It’s pretty clean with very few bugs, and the building system is surprisingly good for an indie game made by a small team. A friend gifted it to me so we could play together, and after playing I honestly think that for a $10 USD game it’s worth the price. I’m keen to see how it grows during Early Access.
Needs a lot of work crafting is painfully slow and very simplistic. I would call it just below average at a 4/10. With some work it could be fun.
I can only recommend W Game if you're bored. -Good building systems -Good graphics -Sometimes the game is crashing but the game saved everything so thats good -everything is just Cool!
I have only played for a short time but I will say it is a nice solid foundation that a really good game could evolve from. The gators and boars are brutal and hunger drains really fast and building anything is a grind fest big time, more even than Subsistence, but when not fighting for my life the game is very relaxing and so far runs very well on my system. I look forward to updates and development.
First off, I LOVE IT!! There are so MANY things DONE RIGHT. in my opinion. I'll post back soon. I need to "dig back" in and explore. Very FUN!
Great game to enjoy with friends or even alone, it's been a joy watching this game start out from humble and simple beginnings to now growing into what it has become today. The amount of effort, thought, dedication and passion that has gone into this project is remarkable and inspiring. Thank you to all of the Devs who worked on this beautiful game, it was a pleasure trying out what The Woods had to offer at the time of me joining and it's been wholesome to watch this project slowly turn into the vision that the team saw from the start of development. Another thank you to the rest of the Bug Testing team, it was lovely working alongside some of you and I'm so proud and thankful to everyone involved!
Reviewing at 6.4 hours in. The Woods , is a survial craft game and has elements simular to other games ; food / water management , hunting, gathering , building. you will need to get on food and water ASAP to avoid dieing, It appears to be inspired by The Forrest , had has elements you will like if you had played it. I'm a causal player and i struggle with some of the combat but others used to this kind of game won't have any issue, there is a peacefull mode if you want , you won't get any hostile mobs but your food comes down to musrooms , berries and mostly chasing down rabbits. you will have a better experince on normal . There is multiplayer , although i havent tried it yet , but others who i know have the game say its good, I am running linux ( bazzite ) and the game does have a long launch time at first launch , so wait it out while stuff happens in the background this improves by next launch , you may need to enable compatiblity. overall runs well ,however it not ready for steamdeck as yet because controller support is still being worked on. Graphicly game looks great , almost all the models are unique and look well. Blueprint system is good and easy to follow. Crafting is ok , it runs in the background so you can que a item(s) to be made and be vigalent of on coming mobs. This game is in active devolpment by a small dev team, they activly are looking at suggestions and at least one of mine have gone into a update, Dev team is very active and I feel this is going places. Overall game is good , give it a go.
after playing the game for 11.3 hours this is my review so far (will update after major updates).... Crafting: aspects of crafting are quite neat, definitely slower than some other survival games I have played but I find that to be a much better experience than those that craft a lot quicker, log mover has some physics issues (linux engine) will test on windows and return to it (Windows works fine, would like to be able ro reel in the rope so it's closer).... Visuals: the game is visually appealing, not too demanding on graphics so to speak so your low/mid tier systems will run the game, rain is appealing and having played with friends on lower end machines have not seen any impact on performance. Gathering: I like the gathering side of things, especially the tree lopping mechanics, very pleasing seeing the wood come out in chunks. I would definitely like to see some mining added into the game further down the track. Building: I love the building in the game, especially the housing, crafting chairs out of sticks found on the ground is super fun and they look very appealing.... Cooking: love the cooking in the game, like that fact you can't throw meat in the fire without the requirements being met....love the drying of meats so they are preserved, such an amazing factor that some "Survival" games I have paid lack Hunting: crocodiles can get ♥♥♥♥♥♥....I have only ever died to crocodiles...little spoungy with some animals taking 7+ arrows to be killed so hopefully that can be changed and reduced by a couple of arrows but overall I quite enjoy the hunting, definitely reminds me of earlier versions of the fores (not to compare the games) . Overall Opinion at 11.3 hours......game is neat and fun to play, obviously has a long way to go until it's "perfect" but having played for a bit of time, I personally enjoy it and the friends I have got onto the game enjoyed it.
For the price, it's a decent game. Just needs a little polishing here and there, haven't encountered any game breaking bugs. Just minor QoL suggestions.
