The Wanderer

the art style seems ambitious but lazy, puzzles are not difficult. quite alright for a free game.

The game needs work. The graphics are on point, the story is a little confusing and not much to go off of.

Nice voice acting! However, having subtitles would be nice. The best 3 hour long story driven free to play game I have ever played.

Interesting little game. I didn't play super long because the story wasn't grabbing me and the game play consisted of walking, jumping and talking. The camera transitions between scenes are a bit wonky as you can tell the camera moves through the level before it focuses on the player. Good work for a solo dev though, keep at it!

Very fun so far. saw a cannibal in the sewers so im kind of freaking out right now lol

"The Wanderer" is a somewhat mediocre 2D adventure game punctuated by a series of mini-puzzles and some rather uncertain narrative. It's ok, I guess, it works, at least. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones or Commodore 64s. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for a "donation" for this as you're expected to buy some extra DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. Like the homeless guys who splash dirty water on your windscreen at the traffic lights. No thanks. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
