The Swapper

The Swapper is one of those great narratives where the mechanics fully inform the story. Things are heavily twisted, reality shifts and who you are is definitely in question. The puzzles are fun and brutal, and highly physics based. Definitely a dark and foreboding game that raises philosophical questions. Only play this game if you're okay asking clones of yourself to die. It gets more disturbing from there. The root cause of it all shares some similarity with the Markers from Dead Space, but I think they're much better written here.

I played this when it was first released many years ago. Still a very good puzzle game. Amazing how they were able to use the same simple mechanics in so many different ways. Good map makes it easier to figure out which places you need to visit. Also a story of sorts. The original version might not run well on new systems, however. I had to use a "compatibility" version to get started, and it still crashed occasionally. I might have gotten the wrong version, unfortunately. Go to the community hub in Steam for instructions on how to get the right one.

実績解除が可能なメモリーを取得すると必ずフリーズする。 フリーズ時に実績の解除はされるので全実績の解除だけはできるかもしれないが、 本来物語の背景を考察する手がかりとなるはずの情報（メモリー）は取得できておらず読めない。 背景を考えることを含めた楽しいゲーム体験はできないと思われる。 数時間足らずのプレイ時間範囲ではパズル要素を楽しい。 射線が通る範囲での自らの「コピー生成」と「乗り移り」という能力の活用と、それを阻んでくる要素への対応はシンプルだが面白い。 ※上記の評価はマウスとキーボード操作時に発生する著しく操作性を損なう不具合に目を瞑ればという但し書きが必要になる。（マウスカーソルのスタック、カーソルの位置ズレ、どうしようもなく低くなるFPS等） 雰囲気ゲームとしても、パズルゲームとしても良い部分は間違いなくあると思うのだが、 まともに遊べない以上買うべきではない。他所を探したほうがいい。 購入してから半年以上ほったらかしにしてさえいなければ間違いなく返品していた。
