For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A Good Sequel, but a Less Memorable Experience The Surge 2 is a competent and enjoyable soulslike that improves several aspects of the original game, particularly its combat, weapon variety, armor system, and boss encounters. I still recommend it, especially to fans of the genre. However, despite these mechanical improvements, I found it less immersive, less intriguing, and ultimately less memorable than the first The Surge. One of the main reasons is the protagonist. Warren, the main character of the first game, has a voice, a personality, and a clear place within that world. You genuinely feel as though it was supposed to be his first day at work and then everything went horribly wrong. That simple premise makes him feel connected to the events around him. A guy that wants to survive. In The Surge 2, the developers decided to let players create and customize their own character. Unfortunately, this freedom comes at the cost of personality. The protagonist has no voice and very little sense of identity or purpose. The dialogue options are poorly written and, at times, feel as though they were written by a child. The selectable character backgrounds also appear to have almost no meaningful influence on the story. Perhaps they change a few minor details, but if they do, the differences are so small that they feel irrelevant. I feel like a lot of content was cut from the game. I also prefer the world design of the first game. CREO felt more organic, and there was a stronger sense of progression as you moved through the different areas of the facility. Even the sections involving the rocket felt like part of a continuous and believable journey. Very dark and industrial cyberpunk. Visceral and raw. The sequel technically offers a larger world, with a city divided into multiple districts, but it did not feel larger or more substantial to me. Strangely enough, the first game felt bigger because its areas were more memorable and satisfying to explore. That said, interconnected level design and cleverly placed shortcuts remain among the strongest qualities of The Surge 2. Character progression is another area where I prefer the original. The first game had a more satisfying upgrade system, as well as weapon proficiency, which rewarded players for becoming experienced with a particular weapon type. The Surge 2 removes weapon proficiency, allowing you to change your build and weapon style whenever you want without any real consequence. I dont like that because removes the rpg element (personal preference). This makes experimentation more convenient, but it also removes part of the feeling of developing a specialized character. On the positive side, the sequel offers slightly more weapon variety and a better selection of movesets. But the movesets still are not good enough. The exo-armor system is also better developed in The Surge 2. Each set can provide both a full-set bonus and a partial-set bonus, encouraging players to combine pieces from different sets. This gives the player more freedom when creating a build. In the first game, you only receive a bonus for wearing a complete set, which discourages you from mixing armor pieces from different sets. Even so, I think the game needed more armor sets and a deeper partial-bonus system. There was an opportunity to create a much richer system, with more combinations and meaningful variations between builds. What is present is good, but it does not feel as complex or rewarding as it could have been. Combat is one of the clearest improvements. It is faster, smoother, and generally more responsive than in the first game. The bosses are also more distinctive overall. Unfortunately, some of them feel lazily designed around the directional parry system. Directional parrying is an interesting mechanic in theory, but I eventually found it unnecessary and sometimes tedious. Several bosses have limited or mediocre movesets, and it is often easy to manipulate them into using the exact attack you want. You simply remain close, wait for the parry indicator, and react. This can make supposedly dangerous encounters feel overly mechanical. Instead of learning a complex opponent, you are sometimes just waiting for the game to display the correct directional signal. Some bosses are also recycled, and the final boss is particularly disappointing and poorly developed. The story is probably the weakest part of the game. Without giving away spoilers, the difference between the two games reminded me of the difference between the first Matrix film and The Matrix Revolutions. To be clear, I am not comparing the stories from Matrix and The Surge themselves. I mean that the first Matrix is an excellent, focused film, while the third expanded its world and stakes so much that it became bloated and considerably worse. It's the same problem with The Surge 2. The original The Surge feels almost like a horror game. Its atmosphere is heavy, oppressive, and filled with isolation. There is a genuine sense of survival as you explore the ruined facility and slowly discover what happened. Its really like a "Cyberpunk Dark Souls". The sequel tries to make everything larger, more spectacular, and more important. In doing so, it loses much of the tension and mystery that made the first game special. At times, it becomes too grandiose and even too fantastical for its own good... and this made the ending of the game very... well... ridiculous. Despite these criticisms, The Surge 2 is still a fun game. Its combat is satisfying, its dismemberment system remains excellent, its level design is clever, and there are plenty of weapons and armor combinations to experiment with. It is a good and competent soulslike that I would recommend, particularly to players who enjoy faster combat and greater build flexibility. However, I still consider the first The Surge 1 the better game. It gave me more hours of enjoyment, a stronger sense of immersion, and a much more intriguing world supported by better lore. I took greater pleasure in exploring every corner of CREO, uncovering its secrets, and understanding its atmosphere. I never felt quite the same desire to explore Jericho City. The Surge 2 may be the mechanically superior game in several areas, but the original has more personality, more atmosphere, and, ironically, much more soul.
Lots of improvements over the first game. The good: Reasonable difficulty from start to finish. Even in NG+ Multiple play styles are viable: Hit and run tactic with spears, directional parry counter with heavy duty weapons, or rely on drones to dismember enemies. You can experiment with them. Drones are useful now as they can be used without consuming energy. Energy is important now as it is needed for healing or buffing yourself. Directional parry is satisfying to pull. High risk gives high reward. No weapon proficiency. You are free to experiment with weapons without them being underpowered. The bad: If you are a masochist who loves the first game, you probably will not like this one Problematic camera. Especially if you are near a wall, a pillar, or in tight places. The camera sometimes move close to your character's back, making you unable to see what's in front of you. The horror vibe from the first game is gone
The performance of this game is terrible, despite the fact that I’m using an RTX 4060 and playing on medium settings.

DO Not Buy, even for a dollar, terrible movement, graphics sucks. Story sucks. First one is better. Its a big f u to the fans of the first one. Developers are gay.
