You.
Guided by Protego’s only remaining analyst, Jim Ratio (Greg Miller), you must master the unique powers of each crew in a game of tactical Solitaire like none you’ve ever played before. Guide your crews home in a tale of intrigue where nobody can be trusted. Keep your cool in a world of AI spies and cyber-enhanced operators.
Once you’ve taken back control of Protego, choose from five different modes for endless replayability that fits your preferred play style.
Five modes to suit your play style:
Campaign - A tightly packed story that introduces the game’s mechanics.
Campaign Plus - Limited turns and locked tables require optimal tactics to solve.
Countdown - Test your endurance with wave after wave of unique decks.
Skirmish - An infinite playground to enjoy unlocked crews.
Daily Hotspot – Bite-sized challenges for your crews to face every day.
Beautiful original character artwork and atmospheric design put you at the heart of your own cyberpunk conspiracy.
No heightened game of Solitaire would be complete without full FMV cutscenes, featuring Greg Miller and Inel Tomlinson in an original story from the team behind Thomas Was Alone, Volume, Subsurface Circular and John Wick Hex.
FREE UPDATES The Return of The Merry and The Atlantis Project add new crews, new cards, new music, and new FMV cutscenes featuring Samantha Béart (North Star Rising, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy - BBC Radio) and Alanah Pearce (Afterparty, Cyberpunk 2077).
Original soundtrack composed by Jon Everist (Battletech, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Shadowrun: Dragonfall).
Is this a solitaire game?
Yes-ish. The Solitaire Conspiracy is inspired by a variant of solitaire called Streets and Alleys, but with some small adjustments and the big addition of suit based powers. Campaign, Campaign Plus, Daily Hotspots and Skirmish (choose your own suits and powers) are take-at-your-own-pace experiences that fit into your schedule. Countdown mode is a place to test your skills with nuanced powers against a ticking clock. This game is endlessly replayable.
Are there microtransactions?
Nope.
Is this Bithell Short an entry in the “Circular” series?
No. While our previous Bithell Shorts (Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular) have been twists on the text adventure, The Solitaire Conspiracy is a new take on solitaire. We love storytelling and world-building, so it absolutely contains a full narrative experience, which we’re telling via full-motion video (FMV) and in-game lore. We decided to use the Bithell Short name to signal something digestible and original. Thanks for continuing to support these odd experiments between our larger projects.
Do I need to have played other Bithell Shorts games to enjoy this one?
Not at all. The Solitaire Conspiracy is an entirely different game from Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular. It tells its own self-contained story set in a world of spies and intrigue. Of course, our games are all set in a shared universe, so expect some mentions of old friends.
If this game is ‘short’, what’s to stop me getting a refund when I’m done?
The Solitaire Conspiracy is our third Bithell Short (and with continued support from the player base our biggest). Our previous two games, Subsurface Circular and Quarantine Circular, both have a return rate of less than 2%. Steam players have shown us that they understand the work that goes into games, and are up for paying for ones that entertain them. Thank you (again).

Very disappointed. The gameplay twist is very fun and the presentation is amazing, but both wear off quite fast and you are left with a Solitaire game with a cringe story told by internet personalities instead of actors, who do a terrible terrible job at telling the story. Quite cringe, honestly.
This isn't a bad game; it's exactly as it is described, in fact. I was hoping the game would have a bit more of an RPG feel or do something more interesting and puzzle like with the powers of the face cards, but a lot of times I tried to avoid using most of the face cards because their powers would hinder me more than help. So it felt just like playing really simplified solitaire with a bare-bones, predictable plot. So if you REALLY like solitaire, this is a way to spice the experience up a bit. But otherwise it's about as much fun as the free versions that come with Windows.
RUS
7.5/10 ENG
Windows XP has been preparing me for this great battle since I was a child
The Solitaire Conspiracy is a very interesting variation on the classic Solitaire solitaire game, with a spy plot, skills for each suit and live actors. The game is not very long and goes through without much difficulty in a couple of evenings. A nice hidden gem that I discovered in my Steam library. 7.5/1
It's solitaire with some deck powers. Voice acting is fine, and story is serviceable if not particularly surprising. Entertaining enough and doesn't overstay its welcome.
I wanted to like it. I didn't like it. I like Bithell games. This one - is ... fine
another wonderful bithell games classic. takes classic solitaire and builds upon it to make something truly unique & wholly worth your time.
Nice, got addicted to this
This is a solid game of computer solitaire with plenty of bells and whistles that make it a strong calling card for an independent developer. Those bells and whistles (FMV, character art, a "story") are impressive, but I started skipping them IMMEDIATELY. 3/5.
❗ For the English version, please scroll down. 10 ___ Mike Bithell has a knack for taking simple concepts and giving them a high-gloss, stylish makeover. In The Solitaire Conspiracy, he applies this treatment to the classic "Streets and Alleys" card game, transforming meditative card-shuffling into a high-octane spy thriller. The game shines not because of how it implements card mechanics, but because it feels less like a traditional game and more like a feature film with the illusion of interactivity. Don't expect deep tactical gameplay. If you approach this as a serious brain-teaser, you’re likely to be disappointed. The entire experience is designed around creating a state of flow. You have access to various spy crews, each represented by a card suit with unique, cheat-like abilities. These powers are so potent they effectively break the rules of solitaire, making it nearly impossible to lose or hit a dead end. You aren't really solving a puzzle so much as pushing buttons to trigger flashy visual effects and advance the plot. The gameplay, therefore, acts as a rhythmic bridge between stylish FMV cutscenes featuring live actors. The story — a mix of espionage intrigue and cyberpunk drama — isn't groundbreaking; it’s slightly naive and somewhat generic. However, the charisma of the cast and the solid direction keep you hooked, especially since the whole campaign only lasts a couple of hours. That brevity is actually the game's greatest asset: The Solitaire Conspiracy perfectly respects your time. It’s a title you can finish in a single sitting and then uninstall with no regrets. The soundtrack puts you in a pleasant trance, the visuals are slick, and the low difficulty lets your brain go on autopilot. It is a polished, self-contained experience that entertains you for exactly as long as it needs to, then rides off into the sunset without overstaying its welcome or pretending to be something it’s not. 7/10
